[GN] Watch Dogs On PC Requires 3 GB VRAM For Ultra Quality Textures - Page 23

enabling Veryical Sync threw Nvdia panel remove the stutering and slowness it had when i used ingame Sync
post #222 of 964
Certainly glad I picked up a 4 gb gtx 770, everyone was telling me I was wasting my money and that a 2 gb would be plenty and that I'd never be able to use the 4 gb, obviously that's not the case as skyrim uses a lot of VRAM for the high res testures and I'm hearing some people are using up to 4 gigs so it's pushing those cards to the limit,

Unless it actually needs more than 2gb vram for ultra textures. This could be the new Crysis.

Does DX11.2 work on 780s? I can't find a proper answer for this anywhere.

It's smooth FPS, then chops, then smooth FPS. I think even people with 6GB Titans are experiencing the same. Hopefully it's a driver issue, this game shouldn't need more than 3GB of VRAM at 1080p. It clearly states 3GB for Ultra in the menus, so it should work. rolleyes.gif

What makes you think Titans are having the same issue?

Not sure who was telling you that but clearly they don't think forward. I get the same argument when I say I'm happy about having 3 GB on my 7950, that games don't use more than 2 GB maxed out etc. But they said the same thing about 1gb vram back in 2010-11.

Probobly driver issue or something that will be fixed with launch patch. If 6gb Titans are getting the same issue it has nothing to do with vram usage. Remember, this game isnt even out yet tongue.gif

2gb is enough for ultra settings with msaa2x or smaa

MSAA looks gross in cars and objects

FXAA

SMAA

and the stuttering its the game loading the AI , reminds me of Stalker doing the same thing lol

graphics look gta4 hd

Exactly, I had a radeon 6870 1 gig back in the day and what killed it wasn't the processor, but the VRAM. Many processors were comparable but the VRAM was higher. I originally was going to buy a gtx 770 and was going to get a 2 gb then realized that would be pointless if ram increased so spent the extra money on the 4 gig version and glad I did. There's been a lot of arguments on forums claiming we will never use 4 gb, that the bandwidth isn't capable of using 4 gb and any argument I had proving skyrim with high res texture mods used more than 2 gigs was shot down or we were told that games are unoptimized if using more than 2 gb bandwidth. Fortunately I didn't listen to all the crap on the internet, IMO I think a lot of pope wanted to defend their choices of saving money going with a lower gig card because they didn't want to admit they were short changing themselves, I feel bad for a lot for people who got short changed but I wanted to secure my investment and now I know it's paying off.

Guys just wait until the game is out with drivers (don't use this pirate example) and if the game cant maxed out at 1080p with single 780 then EPIC FAIL.
Don't argue about the cards, 2GB or 3 GB doesn't matter, if the game is badly coded and poorly optimize its not nvidia fault
