Should I go nuts and buy the EVGA Supernova 1300G2?

As the title says. I was looking at Corsair, Seasonic and CoolerMaster PSUs, but thought that this time I'd go the Super Flower/EVGA way. So now I'm between the Super Flower Leadex Gold/Platinum (10€ difference) at either 750W or 1000W (I think I'll overbuy in case I decide to go SLI/CF later, so I lean towards the 1000W.), or the EVGA SuperNova G2. Prices are as follows:
-Super Flower Leadex Gold 750W 130€
-Super Flower Leadex Gold 1000W 190€
-Super Flower Leadex Platinum 1000W 200€
-EVGA G2 SuperNova 750W 115€
-EVGA G2 SuperNova 850W 135€
-EVGA G2 SuperNova 1000W 179€
-And the crazy part is EVGA G2 SuperNova 1300W 177€
Yep, there's a crazy rebate thing in the retailer I shop from and the 1300G2 is among the discounted products, so I'm thinking about it.

I want to do a water cooling loop and overclock heavily, so if I buy, say, 2 290x/780s and overclock them, I'm easily looking at 700W for the GPUs alone. Throw in a Devil's Canyon CPU at a respectable overclock, and I have myself a pretty power hungry system. The 1000W PSUs are more than enough (And if I stay with a single GPU even 750W is enough), but is there any reason to not go with the 1300W one? I mean, yeah, efficiency will be lower when idling or doing light work, but still I'll have as much headroom as I'll ever want for less money.

So that's it. I just want some opinions because I'm in over my head. Thanks in advance!

PS : The Super Flower PSUs seem better at reviews, but actually only have one year of warranty (???), whereas the EVGAs have a 10 year warranty. I don't think anyone can beat that, so I'm leaning towards EVGA at this point.

1300W would be overkill, but it's cheaper than the 1000W so I see no reason not to.

the question is, why not? so what if it's overkill? if you can afford it then go for it.

That's why I love this forum. We're all so adorably crazy here... biggrin.gif

If you come to think about it, 2 heavily overclocked GPUs and a Devil's Canyon CPU at over 4.5GHz could use an overkill PSU...1.3GHz 290's/1.4GHz 780's anyone? thumb.gif

I ran an i7 920 @4.0 and 2x gtx 280's on a 650W before. 1300W is nuts.

Unless you are going to volt mod your video cards you dont need more then 750 watts.
So 1300 watts is a waste of money unless you are going to 3 cards with volt mods or 4 cards.

go for the 1300 evga. what the heck. I have had my 1200 for a few years now and never have to worry about having enough power. who cares if it's overkill? I don't like that term anyway.

Get a 750 watts and spend money on something else.
Unless you like spending money for no good reason.
