Roccat Kone Pure Military - Page 134

Hey guys

So I originally got a new 'open box' KPM from bit-electonix about a month ago. The LMB had button lift, but it was usable but the button would be sticky every so often which was annoying. So I got in touch with bit-electonix the other day and they send me out a replacement and told me to keep the old one.

Well i got the replacement today and guess what the buttons are perfect but it has lens rattle mad.gif The replacement did not come in a retail box but a brown small box.

So I did the paper trick and secured the lens. The feet look used. I am also getting some spin out with the replacement KPM. Maybe the card by the lens is affecting it.

I am sure all of bit-electronix's stock is RMA's from customers. Two in a row both with defects and I know prokopf has a loose lens which is also from bit-electronix.

Now I don't know whether to just keep them because they are both usable and I suppose two KPM for £32 ain't that bad as it leaves me with a spare but its not the point really because it is not what I ordered. I ordered a 'new' defect free KPM and that's not what I got.

Mildly annoying.

Hey man you don't need tweezers just make the card long and thin and you wedge it in with fingers only (see my previous post) smile.gif

It could be that the magnification part of the lens is being pushed too far over to the side, resulting in it not reading the surface properly which, in turn, could be the cause of it malfunctioning. Mine has has a slightly rattling lens but it doesn't affect performance at all. My G303 was the only mouse where the rattling lens actually affected tracking.

Edit: It could also be that the paper is pushing the lens to sit at an angle. RJN actually made a video about how holding the mouse at an angle made it malfunction easier.

I'll try it without the card wedge but I hate the rattle frown.gif

edit - I've taken it out and you can't really feel the lens loose in use. I'll try QL tomorrow and see if it spins out.

Lol, my story could be the same as yours just other way round. I contacted them earlier this week and was really cautios to ask for a replacement. I could still have returned it for free, but i wanted a working one. And just like with you they told me to keep the defect one and they will send me a replacement.

I agreed with their offer, but i clearly stated if it the replacement has another defect i will again return it. I clearly explained that the problem seems to be mostly with the desert strike and they could send me any colour. Just let it have no defects. Will see, tomorrow package arrives and i will keep you updated.

So far generous return policies on their side and quick service. It might just for them be cheaper to not get the return defect mice. If they buy these stuff at bulk prices and as RMA from the producer they have no warranty and defect mice are casualties. Reparing them is never worth the working time, they only could try to sell it again. Unknown or more casual people might not complain or notice.
I never played with it, but i tesTed the rattle with tape ( non transparent tape over sensor and shake it) and you could clearly see the cursor wabble, on 1600 dpi up to 3 MM per shake id say. May not be relevant most the time but juat the placebo effect of knowing it may make you miss that crucial fast flick shot is enough to not play with it. Or when you lift the mouse and put it back down it would alwaye jump a bit. Sadly it seems that the desert strikes are production flawed. Again if the next copy is still flawed, i either try to fix the rattle myself or ask them to send me a working camo or navalstrike ( although i fear all or most kpm they sell may have issues) and i pay the difference between them and the desert strike.

So I tried it without the card and I get a spin out at least once every two matches in QL.

I may reinstall the drivers again just in case because sensor alignment was on -27 but the button did say 'off' but when I rebooted my PC an hour ago the cursor was all over the place and sensor alignment had swtiched 'on' even though it had been saved as 'off''.

Roccat's drivers are far from perfect because with my previous KPM the dpi's reset in the middle of a QL session.

I'm hoping it's the drivers because if it's not I will be sending this back to bit-electronix.

If the DPI is stored on-board, why not just uninstall the driver.

Yep, that's a really annoying problem. Mine randomly adjusted the sensor alignment value and I ended up looking up at the sky or at the ground after a swipe. Needed to reset it in the software and save my settings again. Mine also had a problem with the surface tuning. I got some really weird movements when drawing in mspaint.

I knew of the sensor rattle risk, but i tried out the shape in a store and got hooked, but noone had the optical/military version. So well i went with this offer as it was quite affordable, but welp coulda guessed it it has the rattle. It´s really noticeable, if it would affect my performance when playing i do not know. But if i tape the sensor and shake it you can really see the pointer moving a few mms.

Cause I have a warranty and I otherwise quite like it, i contacted the support if i could get a replacement without rattle. If not I´m not to sure if I keep it, cause i don´t really plan on opening it.

I bought the mouse a few months back. Mine had sensor rattle and you could lift the sensor up with your fingers. Contacted Roccat support and they said they can't do anything about it. Since my GF liked the shape and the sensor rattle doesn't bother her much she's using it to play.
