It really doesn't. I even tried a browser I've never used on a site. Where do you see it, around the other 3 4790 models, because I only see 3 4790 models.

Yup, looks nice noticed it earlier; hopefully it stays there (going to grab a few archival copies JIC they decide to flush it). It'd be nice to know I could upgrade to DC if I ever needed to replace this 4770k if I screw it up if I say delid it and can't claim the warranty if it fails later down the road.
I don't have a Z87 or a Z97, so don't automatically assume I have "feelings" on this, others are the ones invested here. Anyway, it could be an error on the definition of Pentium/DC but an error nonetheless, since the sentence ends with CPU, i.e. one CPU. Also you have to combine it with the fact all manufacturers are supporting the Unlocked Pentium as we speak, it's a very expected BIOS update at this point in time.
I don't want to stir anything but it's possibly on purpose to stir the pot about ASUS.
In any case, exclusively Unlocked Pentium BIOSes are very common right now.
They do appear to have pulled the updated CPU list - they seem to have jumped the gun. But the 4790k and 460k were there, this was cut an paste from that page:
Core i7-4790K (4.0Ghz, 4C, HT, L3:8M, HD Graphic, 88W, rev.C0) ALL 1504
So the new BIOS supports DC, they just slipped it out too early.
I don't know. Look, JJ of ASUS, the marketing guy, is roaming the youtube videos (Linus etc.) saying they try to backport it from 9 to 8 but it's a bit shady at the moment etc. He ended up by saying "DC is officially only for Z97".
It could be bs for marketing, or Intel licence restricted. There's also a possibility DC uses features of Intel 9 that are normally destined for Broadwell (vr-zone reported different electrical specifications).
I personally think there are obviously changes beyond the packaging since the capacitors at the back are shown on pics to be completely different. But I would not be too surprised to see it on Z87.
Now you're just being silly. Just accept you were wrong repeating to no end sarcastically that I should read the list or search the list. You found out yourself, I could not see the 4790K on the list.
I just purchased the 4790k and updated my bios to the newest version 1505. but when I install the i7 I get no video.... works fine with my i5 anyone have this issue?
I'm running z87 Asus board with my 4790k on 1505 bios (Maximus VI Hero). Try either flashing the bios thru the "windows updater thing" or use BiosFlashback. I used bios flashback to flash to 1505, and have been running DC since its release.
No errors in Prime95 and temps are only hitting 55 at 100 load. True 140 and 21ish ambient. Seems pretty decent
