and I do understand that not everyone can AFFORD it.

But how does that make copying directly from your competitor legit.
It is not because everyone is cheap or having minimum $$. It is just that consumers don't care about ripping off brand but vanity.

If Barrow came up with their own design and release in whatever price and quality is entirely fine. If they can keep their price low at the same time having somewhat decent R&D...
I don't see any reason it could be a bad thing but this isn't reality.

I think i saw blue and gold colored Enzotech fittings before Bitspower. So, should bitspower invest in creating a new color to avoid competing with enzotech? Oh wait, they just launched similar colors...

About 90% of computer stuff is similar as you can't really skin a cat a billion different ways and still make a profit. Caselabs didn't invent the cube case and yet any new cube case comes out and everyone yells it copied Caselabs. From memory, Mountain Mods had their cube U2UFO case released in 2006 and besides atx style (like the M8), they did a horizontal layout called "horizon" (as like the S8 did for CL). Continuing from memory, CL launched their consumer cases in 2010-11. And those unique designs in the industry, some hardly sell (see the V10 cooler, Zalman tube coolers, Lian li spyder chasis, Lucid hydra multi-gpu motherboards, etc.). So it makes sense to follow the leaders if you plan to make a buck. Its called business, and your righteous moral feelings (though valid) are not what a business follows in their compass. Also, a business must take steps to protect their stuff even they just sit around and just linger (see Asetek).

If you're going to come in this thread and complain about Barrow design, please take it to the off-topic section. It doesn't help us who don't care about that and prefer to keep the topics productive and beneficial.

Going to try my hand with a few of these Barrow fittings... 2x10mm M-F extender, 1x20mm M-M extender, 1x20mm M-F extender, 1x30mm M-F extender, 1x4mm M-M extender, 20mm flow control (for top of res to turn into an inlet instead of fill port)

Will report back with what I think of them biggrin.gif

I am not hatting on barrow. or particular defending BP.

I am criticizing whoever makes a statement of "Luxury watercooling components are too expensive, so buying rip offs are totally fine."

If the Enzotech/BP is the case, then yes, BP is copying their idea.
Everyone defines ripping off to a different degree but please to at least to have the balls to admit that we don't care about it...

I am stating a fact that this isn't about barrow makes good product and how market segmentation. It is just ppl dont care so their business runs really well. In fact barrow does make original design....fyi

People should seek out and listen to the opinions and experiences of others, (that's what OCN is all about, right?), but do the research for themselves and make up thier own mind.

Nothing hurts an industry worse than fanboyism, either positive or negative. It's insulting to freedom of choice and stifles competition. Without competition and choice we would all be paying $20-$25 PER fitting.

@GhostHitWalli do see your point there can be competition without copying eg primochill/monsoon/bp but in this respect i tend to side with @wermad and @Radnad more. It is the free market and while it is not exactly ideal, that is the way the cookie crumbles.

I was pulling my hair deciding which extensions to go with but in the end, I only needed a male to male 10mm extension tongue.gif. The amount of angled fittings didn't really necessitate extensions.

Yea, i'm working with a small area and to do a hardline run in that area is damn near impossible... running fittings from outlet port on radiator to inlet on top of reservoir, I also needed a 10mm M-F adapter to clear a fan on the other radiator. Wasn't sure of exact lengths on the run to the reservoir, so grabbed a bunch of in between sizes to make it work biggrin.gif

I think some people don't realize this: mechanically speaking, all this stuff is the same. Quality, flow performance and materials are identical.

BP and Enzotech products are everything but "luxury components" or "worth the price". They're made of simple brass, with a not-exceptional nickel plating or paint job on top.
10+$ is an outrageous price for a small piece of brass with some paint on that is made in China, but they can do this because they look very good when new and have the power of the brand.
Barrow is the same. But they ask a more affordable 5$.

It's not honest nor dishonest, it's just how the market works.
Now, if Barrow can sell the same thing but at half the price while making money, great for them. BP will not suffer from their competition because their brand is so strong it's not even funny anymore, but even if they did, it would be their fault for selling low-grade stuff at insane prices and not adapting when someone does the same thing for less.

As for buying: let's get real. Unless you're a serious fanboy, I don't see how a different logo can make the same product be worth more than double the price. If Barrow was brass and BP was stainless steel I'd get the situation, you either go cheap or go premium. But.... They're the same.
