Reaching 4.0ghz

Thread Starter
Just put together a budget rig...

My goal is to reach highest possible ram speeds, and 4.1ghz with no turbo or any of that crap on.. just pure 4.0-4.1 ghz on stock cooling.. Can this be done with my current PC parts..

I am working on getting better cooling atm, but for now I would like just a mild OC... Is asking for 500mhz on stock cooling a bit to much?

I am new to AMD OCing and cooling.. I have been on Intel for the past 4 years..

Thanks

Not sure how to update my rig to my current one I am using.. But it's the budget fun rig that I have running

I didn't see an AMD chip listed under your "Budget Fun" rig. What chip do you have? smile.gif

FX 8320... Let me see if I can go in update that rig again.. I must have messed it up when I added the SSD in

4.0ghz should easily be attainable with that chip! Check the main owners' thread below for all the great info you'll ever need. smile.gif

hello,
should be no problem with stock voltage.
you should aim for 1.32v at 4ghz.
the cpu can run 4ghz at 1.28v, but due to voltage calibration on mine, the lower clock of 1400mhz dose not get enough volts when set up like that 0.86v.

Just find someone with similar hardware and copy their settings. That's what I did. It's pretty east to pick up. I'd always been an intel OCer until I picked up this 8320 of mine this year. smile.gif

So after extensive testing, I later found out the memory seems to be fine.. The motherboard on the other hand, had to be replaced.. I went with a Gigabyte UD3. Currently at 4.2ghz 1.34 vcore, and ram is running a 2133 1.65volts per xmp profile. That Asrock was basically junk..

But I have some Kinston hyperX genesis 1600mhz 16gb ram just in case these Corsair fail for whatever reason.

Thanks everyone for the help and tips.. I am going to continue to play with the OC some and see where I can take this chip.

upgraded to a CM 212 evo and in a push/pull atm..

idle temps are around 19C, and load are around 45C gaming..
