It wont work for several reasons. First off doing any kind of hardware mod on graphics cards is a challenge but messing with IC is practically impossible.
Getting one of thees loos in once piece and replaced is hard as hell.
Getting an surface mounted multi point chip like an vram just can't be done by hand. I don't care how good you think you are.
Even with the right tools and mad skills you need to have extreme luck to get all thous points loos and the chip away and put one back in and get all thous points to connect properly. And you need to do that for ever single memory chip as you would have to upgrade each to an higher density version. Now if you by some miracle got this far without melting the PCB or frying one of the chips then there is still the question of software. Would the card even run whit the new configuration or would it have needed a cross firmware update form an 4GB version card in order to recognize the added memory.
That reason enough for you?Edited by Bit_reaper - 6/6/14 at 3:12am
