DESCRIPTION

General

The 900D Monster Xtreme  was born with the purpose of modding the 900D so that it can contain all the hardware that I had always wanted.

The project takes its present appearance through numerous changes that I decided to make. From an initial idea which did not contain the liquid cooling, to a version with CPU cooled by an AIO (the Swiftech H320) first, to one with a real watercooling.

One of the decisive and characterizing moment of the final project was the decision to enter 4 Alphacool NexXxos Monsta 560 (later to become 5) and the solution of Cooling Towers (CT)

The case will be joined, front and rear, , by two self-built structures, that I called CT. where will be placed 4 RADs.

It will be a PC over size, the ratio of which, for me, is more the exercise of style, rather than the actual functionality or practicality.

How case until the beginning I chose the Corsair 900D, I went to modding so more and more relevant, and I added self-built parts too.

Water Cooling

The Liquid Cooling System is designed with aesthetic and performance purposes. The intention is in fact to have an higt radiant capacity, ensured by 5 Alphacool NexXxos Monsta 560 with fans in push and pull, which allows a great OC daily while maintaining a low noise level.

In particular, the liquid cooling system will consist of two independent loops made with rigid pipes. On the side of the MoBo will place two vertical Cylindrical Tank. (to be continued ....).

And 'I planned to be used Aquaero 6 XL as Fan controller (to be continued ....).

Lay Out

The project will be characterized by the colors Black and Red, in the final stage I would like to finish with chrome parts.

So I want to match the colors of the HW, the use of Plexy, LED lighting, cable sleeving, LED fans (140mm Enermax Apollish red), possibly additive colored; finally, I would like to achieve the customized grills.

CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUE

I used a construction technique previously used by another Italian Modder JJ_McTiss modifying it slightly. In practice I used aluminum square profiles (2 cm) with strips of wood (pine) inside (1, 5 cm) easily available in hardware stores.
In fact, the hole of the bars is 1.7 cm but I'm going to put the tape in order to decrease the GAP and the danger that the slats can break.
I reinforced joints with pieces L self-produced by an L-shaped profile (1m = 50 joints from 2 cm).
I will use wood screws 4mm diameter and lengths from 2 cm to 5.0 cm.

First:

And Second:

and 2!

Soon the next! thumb.gif

Hi Guys

an update from the now "de Facto" Blacksmith, I'm working for the last two frames of the Cooling Towers:

I covered the strips of wood with duck tape

And I proceeded with the assembly:

I then added vertical bars which serve to fix the "Cooling Towers" at 900D:

1) Materials

With the same technique of wood cores, duck tape and aluminum bars

2) Measures for assembly and drilling

I use paper tape where I had to take measurements for the holes and position the bars, marked with pencil and nail, drilled.
I took position of the L reinforcements (I've also had to redo 50 of them), marked with nail and drilled again.

3) Assembling

I Stuck with clamps and put the screws to 5 cm (2 above, 2 below, this structure will hold); I fixed L reinforcements each with 4 screws (2 cm)

I repeated all these steps 4 times, for the 4 frames

.
