Progress 08/09.08.14

Hallo, yesterday I cleaned the room where the computer and water cooling are going to be staying, I mounted 9x 140 mm fans on the MO-RA3 420 LT, connected computer to MO-RA3 and radiator stand. Got a new "table" for the computer which is very sturdy so it does not wiggle. I got in some more cabling (not connected on the "backside" though).

What I have left to do: In this order.

- Connect GPU's to PSU
- Drill holes in acrylic plate for HDD's
- Cabling and connecting HDD's (PSU and to the motherboard)
- Fill up the loop and check for leaks --> leak-testing
- Fix the cabling for MO-RA3 and radiator stand (2x PWM adapters and some 4 to 1 pin-adapters)
- Fire up the thing

Progress 09/10.08.14

I got the last tubing connected to the loop today. After work i did start on the filling of the loop. I am 4,4 liters in with distilled water, atm been running leak-test for about 15 minutes and surprisingly no signs of any leaks as of yet. Still re-filling water to the loop with the 2x swiftech mcp655 running at "5", so the pressure is at top.

Checking for leaks with a bright flashlight is the thing, because then you can see the "drops". smile.gif

Update 10.08.14

Got a good ten and a half hours with leak/bleed testing done tonight, re-filled the loop when I got up this morning. No leaks the first hour and a half, and none leaks after ten hours. Seems like I have done a very good job with my measurements and cuts of the hard tubing.

Today I started out drilling the holes for the HDD-bracket and wire up the rest of the cables inside the computer. Then I just tried to start the computer with the LD-Cooling buttons which did not work (big surprise tongue.gif), so I guess I have to re-do that (if anyone have a "guide" or whatever how to do that I would like to see it, came with no manual or anything really). I guess red = positive and black = negative, but what is positive and negative on the RIVBE can't be nowhere to find it seems like.

At least the computer started up with the "Start"-button on the motherboard and everything is working properly.

Then I upload a few shots of my system.

The paint-scheme was a compromize really, I do not like it alot, but it is okay. I would rather have gone with brown, black, "navy" green and then some better decals. But I could not get a hold of that when the case was "painting-ready", so this was the end-result I guess. I like everything about this computer now really, 2x 1300W PSU's, 4x R9 290X's, 3x 3TB HDD's (two more SSD's will be added) and of course the RIVBE and all the water cooling. It is small details that does this build so "perfect" to me, like the EK-Supremacy Elite nickel-plated bracket together with the EK-Supremacy Full Nickel clean CSQ. The Nickel on the blocks and fittings is a very good match with the color of the hard tubing too.

Progress/update 25.08.14

Okay, I got some bad news today. Came home early to just tweak around with timings on my ram to get 2133 Mhz out of them, suddenly I hear something that is dripping. I find a flashlight and there is water pretty much all over the floor, this got me to wonder because the system has been leak-free at all times after I got the computer up and running. I checked all fittings/hoses and everything seemed fine, I moved the radiator stand out from underneath my desk together with the MO-RA3 to be sure nothing was causing it to leak. Got it out and started it up, and I got some ticking noise from one of the radiators (it is used to doing this during leak-testing, but the system has been closed since I got it up and running). After a closer inspection of the radiators I saw that water was dripping out of the radiator itself (the water did not follow the radiator to that point), the radiator itself actually leaked (not damaged either during moving). It was aviously there the problem was, it was one of the EK-XTX240's (the newest one that only is about 7 months old). In my mind I have had the thought of doing 2x MO-RA3 for some time now so I just pulled the trigger on another MO-RA3 420 LT and 9x Cooltek 140 mm fans at 900 rpm. I also got four more QD3's so I do not have to drain the hole (or half system) one more time if I want to change anything or so. There goes another 500 USD on the build, money I had intended to use on a new dSLR, I guess I have to wait to my next paycheck then. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

But in mind of upgrades this was the first on my list, so it was probably going to happen at one time or another anyways. So now I have one new problem ... where to have the 5 1/4" reservoir that sat on the radiator stand I am throwing out now. My only real solution is to put it on top of the case, but I will have to look at that when I have time for it.

As far as the QD3 goes, I will put two at each MO-RA3 420 LT and have the two I already have where they are today. The 4x QD3's I ordered is the ones with 1/4" BSP in the end so I just can screw them directly into the MO-RA3's without using compression fittings then tubing and then the QD3's.

I talked to my water-cooler supplier today and he would have it shipped to me so I had it within the weekend (probably), but if it takes two weeks it does not really mather much to me.

Okay, I hope you guys will stay tuned for the "final" setup of the rig with 2x WaterCool MO-RA3 420 LT's with 18x Cooltek 140 mm 900 rpm fans.

Do share temps; one vs. two MORAs if you're able to.

It has never been bad really, 2x 480 Monsta, 2x XTX240 and 1x MO-RA3 420 LT is actually more radiator space than the 2x MO-RA3 420 LT will be.

The temperatures I have seen this far:
3930K @ 4,6 Ghz with 1,44 volts stayed at around 69-70 degree Celsius under 100% LOAD P95. While gaming never went above 65 degree Celsius.
4x R9 290X with 1100/1300 was 51 degree Celsius on cores with Fujipoly Ultra Extreme (yes, the 17 W/mk). I also used the Fujipoly Ultra Extreme underneath the mosfet-block and on all surfaces I used GC-Ultra Extreme.

I have yet to feel warm when touching any of the copper-tubing or fittings inside the computer, the backside of the R9 290X's is really the only thing that I have felt that have been "kind of warm" to the touch this far. I guess somewhere around 50 degree Celsius.

It seemed like everything got sent today, except three of the QD3's with BSP 1/4" because he only had one, have to wait until the end of next week or probably the week after before they are delivered so it will be some waiting before it is "up" again. I just have to try to sell the 2x 480 Monsta's and the last EK-XTX240 with all my 120 mm fans. tongue.gif
