Okay, since this build is pretty much finished for this time around I went ahead and took some pictures of the whole "gaming" setup I have, I hope you guys enjoy!

I have started overclocking the 4930K, and I am at 4,6 Ghz with 1,275 vc in bios this far, picture of the temperatures and voltage on one of the pictures.

Progress 26.09.14

Trying to get a high and stable overclock on the 4930K, I have done 4,8 Ghz @ 1,34 volts stable at P95 Blend, 4,9 Ghz @ around 1,38 volts keep BSODing on me, I might suspect it needs more vcore.

I have also tried playing around a little with 2133 Mhz @ my RAM-kit which is rated at 1866 Mhz and it seems to be a hard game, tried both 10-10-10-27 and 9-11-11-31 and both BSOD's at P95 Blend with 1,65 volts ... I have never overclocked RAM before, but it seems to be a little troublesome. Called a guy in Norway which was selling his Corsair Dominator Platinums rated at 2400 Mhz and made a deal, 210 USD for 16 GB (4x 4GB) is not too bad. I am also trying to get my hands on a Cooler Master Cosmos 2, because the Air 540 is a bust for my system (not enough room for my hardware). I also ordered some PrimoFlex Advanced LRT clear 3/8"-5/8" to use inside the computer. With the new RAM installed I will not be using my EK-Dominator X4 blocks (totally waste anyways), so there will be less tubing inside the case.

I might use the Air 540 for my Sabertooth Z77, 3570K and such. I have some spare parts of watercooling laying around so I might do a custom loop on that too.

Progress 29.09.14

I got the 4930K to 4,9 Ghz with 1,38 volts vcore in bios, I used AIDA64 stability test for two hours and my temperatures never exceeded 71C on any core. While gaming BF4/Bioshock Infinite @ 4K it is usually about 65C average on all cores. I am pretty happy with this result, because this is what I bought the CPU for.
I am still waiting on the Corsair Dominator Platinums and I am currently looking for a "new" case, because the Air 540 is kind of on the short side when it comes to ascetics when fully assembled (means I cannot get everything inside the actual case). So I have been looking at LD Cooling PC-V8 in black/red, so we will have to see how that goes along. In that relation I think about creating another build log, because this will not really be the same build any more, I am also thinking acrylic tubing and lots of multi-link adapters from Bitspower. I have EK-HD Tube 10/12 mm laying around, so the only purchase I need to do is the multi-links.

hi, great build. I saw it posted over on the 540 owners club. i have just ordered everything to get my 540 under water and was just wondering if you have the dimensions to hand of the bottom panel mod? im hoping to crowbar in a ut60 360 in the front so i need to flatten out the bottom and get rid of the hot swaps.

sorry if you have covered this already but i have just stumbled upon this after a visit to the pub (promise i will read it all tomorrow thumb.gif )

AC 360 UT60 in front will be a close call, even with short GPU's and small motherboard. The hot-swaps is useless with four cards (that is the reason I just cut it all out).

Let's see, the acrylic plate in the bottom is 37,5 cm x 20,2 cm (extreme close fit on the width (20,2 cm, that is the distance from the mb-tray-wall to the eminence against the door), I used a lot of time filing with an angle cutter to make it fit. You might want to work on the length of the cut (37,5 cm is not exact (I just used the measuring tape inside the case right now)). Good luck with your build. thumb.gif

wow thanks for the quick response. ive been asking everywhere for dimensions but apparently my posts are invisible lol.

Ok, i think i will cut the panel slightly smaller then to make sure it fits. i only have a jigsaw so cant really so intricate cuts so will have to be careful. is the panel just a rectangle, i think it is but thought i would check.

a ut60 is indeed going to be a close call but i think i have done my measurements right for that. ive seen a couple of others with one in the front and have judged from there. im planning on moving my ssd and hdd (currently in the hotswaps) to the rear, ssd in the provided cages and have got a mount for the hdd to go into the 5.25.

Cheers, im bricking it a bit as it is my first water build and my first build log as well so hope i dont mess either of them up lol

I have 8,8 cm from the acrylic panel to my GPU's (R9 290X) so I guess the AC 360 UT60 will be fine, but I think the original radiator bracket is immersed a bit to the back of the case (like 0,5 cm or something). It will not be many centimeters between your GPU's/motherboard and the radiator, but I think it will fit.

That acrylic HDD-cage I made myself has been sitting on top of my second PSU in the Air 540 and has worked great for me. Of course there is many ways of making something that will work, but the distance from the second PSU to the top of the case was about exactly the width of my HDD (3,5").

Water cooling is no big deal, you just have to take your time and be precise, then you will be fine! thumb.gif
