if you have any friend who has a spare PSU you can try.. i would try that first.

well there is something wrong happening in your PC. it's either the PSU or the CPU/RAM... but i lean more towards the first. it doesn't matter if it has the power. all you need to know if your unit is putting out enough power or not

I'll try running Memtest86 today and see what happens so I'll have 1 hardware less to diagnose.

EDIT: Ran memtest86 for 2 passes and no errors showed up.

So for now I've run:

6 hours of Prime95 - if it was my cpu dying surely the system would freeze
2 hours of memtest86 - I know that many people say that you should run it for 8 or 15 hours but my opinion is that if ram was corrupted it would most likely show at the beginning.
1 hour of Furmark - If my gpu would be defunct I believe it would show on this test and it didn't.

Surely if my PSU was dying my system would hard lock or shutdown at some point of running those test's. Can it be my motherboard?

HWinfo says that both of my drives don't show any system failures.

God I hate freeze's with no error so much mad.gif

Can it be Nvidia latest 377.88 drivers? Is anyone experiencing any issue with these latest drivers.

Just re read my first point and noticed my error. My system freezes while on desktop not in games. There were instances were it froze a few minutes after exiting a game but never in game.

I had another freeze today and since there is such a big gap between freezing ( happens once a week ) I'm having a hard time fixing this.

I'm also trying to test the RAM on my GPU by using Video memory stress tester but I'm having slight issues. When I click on start I get the following report and it stops.

Changing video mode to 640x480x16...OK

Seagate makes a utility to test your HDD/SSD and so does Samsung (Magician). I skimmed but I am taking from what I read that your ram and cpu are solid. Are your connections to your card good (power and seated properly in the pcie slot)? Try rolling back the driver to a previous version. I don't remember it being stated or asked but are you running any OCs on the graphics card?

Just a couple of things that came to mind. I apologize if any of this has already come up.

Well yea, my gpu if factory overclocked and I made double sure that everything is seated properly.

Also, don't apologize help is always welcome thumb.gif

I will try to rollback drivers, but first I updated to the newest beta. And since I had a freeze with the newest beta I will downgrade to see if the issue remains. But I don't wish to stay on the downgraded drivers for long.I also know before the system will freeze because my mouse movement will become very slow a few seconds before it freezes.

Try keeping task manager up so when your mouse starts to move slowly you can peek at cpu usage. I remember reading that when you experienced a crash you received a "graphics driver stopped working but has recovered" message. Does this message display every time? When I first got my card and was testing overclocks I would get this if my OC (that I had set) was not stable. That's why I was wondering if you had set OCs yourself or if it was on stock settings. Maybe a bios flash for your card?

Beta drivers made my card crash instantly.

After 3 years of being overclocked I had to downclock my cpu from 4.5 to 4.3Ghz. After running prime95 with 4.3Ghz I noticed that 2 workers stopped working so I downclocked ram to 1333Mhz ( 9.9.9 24 ). Afterwards I successfully ran prime95 for 8 hours.

This happened right after I reinstalled my windows because of freezing issues. Is it possible that my cpu is slowly dying?

My drivers are crashing only when playing Rome 2. I can play other games fine without any driver related crashes. Its the system freezing that is killing me since I can't find the culprit.
