Currently I have one Gigabyte R9 290X that I am keeping, for now, the other three I have are reselling on eBay. My title is a summary of my question:

Option 1: the prestige, the ridiculous, the absurdly overpriced (which I would be getting at at least a $600 discount) eVGA Titan Z Superclocked, or

Option 2: similarly ridiculous but cheaper, pick up an XFX R9 295x2 for near-retail (or just direct from Amazon), New, and see what I can do with some high powered fans on that radiator; or

Option 3: for slightly less (most likely) than the Z, but about $500 more than the x2, I have a seller offering 2 original GTX Titans, which he is gauranteeing will hit at least 1200MHz (1.2v) on air, and has said they run 1100+ on air with load temps ~65C; or

Option 4: get a matched R9 290X WindForce from Gigabyte (new or used) and save the rest.

Option 5: the rare beast, spotted3d in the wild. Word has it only ~250 were made. The powerful killer of R9 295x2s, the PowerColor Devil 13 R9 290X2.

Budget isn't a huge concern, I currently run one 1080p tv as my display but I may get back in to eyefinity/surround at some point soon, system specs are in my signature, 3930k/Corsair AX1200W PSU, so my PSU can handle all of the above with ease. It's not just about performance, is also about the challenge, the benchmark scores, the fun.

Which route would you go?

Edited to correct spelling errors cuz tablet typing op.

Edit 2: Added Option 5. Options 1 (Titan Z) & 3 (dual Titans) are off the table. Poll redone/updated.

Imho Titan Z is the worst pick.

It is a pointless card: more expansive and less performing than a Titan Black SLI.

Betwheen your options i d go for #4.

#3 could be intresting it they were Black..

i'm curious how much u selling those 290X

I have a VisionTek thats "new" that I've only benchmarked a bit that I have listed for ~$375 shipped & the two XFX Core Editions I'm offloading are used, I cleaned them up significantly and made sure they don't have any stupid BIOS issues or the like, those I have listed for $660 shipped for both. If they don't sell on EBay I'll likely list them here, at a slightly lower price since I wouldnt have to account for EBay fees.

And I don't want to wait that long, as far as this changearoo goes, I want it done asap. I have the monitors from when I previously ran Surround/Eyefinity, I just haven't used them in a long while as LoL had became my most played game for quite a while. Now that I'm back in to high end gaming (Watch_Dogs, Crysis 3, Metro Last Light, etc) I'm looking to finalize my upgrade from the HD 7970 OC I was running (which I already resold for $200 :-D).

Probably should've given that tidbit in my original post lol

you need more rep to sell here sadly frown.gif

On the other hands. among all these. i'd say get another 290X then wait till the 880 is out and see what that brings to the table. the titan Z being that expensive and not that much performance difference. it's just doesn't justify it. biggrin.gif

Yeah I know on the rep part :-D I've been buying and selling computer stuff on EBay since '08, got almost 100 feedback all positive. I've also bought n sold a thing or two over at NVidia forums.

The main factor on the Z besides performance is the obvious, that wow/ridiculous factor. Course the same could be said about 1200MHz+ Titans. Much debate in my head.

I'll likely get a matching card for now unless all my stuff sells today, then anything goes and I may go crazy. Lol

Nah not that kinda wow, and I don't fancy the issues that type of QuadFire would lead to, I've used dual GPU card QuadFire before (HD 6990s) and some of the downsides are annoying. The QuadFire testing I already did using the four R9 290Xs cards I have now was pretty insane, definitely meant for multi display madness (and it peaked at almost 1500W from the wall in testing, during FireStrike's combined test).

I'm basically debating which dual GPU route to go.

ok then get one only. don't take me wrong. but you seem already fixed on the titan Z for the prestige of it. to be honest if i can afford that. i'd ditch it and get a 295X 2 biggrin.gif

anyway U like the looks of it. titan z it is biggrin.gif

That's actually exactly something I keep coming back to. Even if I get the Titan Z for under 2500, the R9 295x2 is still cheaper, and performs the same. Then I think "but where would I put the R9 295x2's radiator?" Lol its a vicious cycle.
