You should always flash the bios using a bootable USB it will work that way, nvflash isn't meant for windows biggrin.gif

Oh and if you have any questions regarding BIOS flashing you can PM me

I don't know, this seems pretty self-explanatory to me:

6. open the folder with the nvFlash, cwsdpmi and the new bios 1.rom copy and paste them to the floppy, now the floppy should look like this,

7. Restart the computer with the floppy in.

You make a DOS boot disk, then boot from the disk, therefore you're in MSDOS... Honestly, I don't see anywhere in the post that implies it's a Windows utility.

WOW I didn't know that it was so hard, 30 minutes LMAO!!!

It's pretty strait foward, now as for 500series cards I haven't tried to flash one yet because different series of cards sometimes need a different NVflash version, I know the 400series uses nvflash 5.95 a different NVflash than the 200series uses.

Open up a higher fan speed, set your clocks higher than stock so you overclock more, give you more voltage options. Edit bootup strings. Edit 2D/3D/Startup clocks.

Hey guys.. i have a Dead GTX 275 and i'm having trouble
" Supported EEPROM not found " ??
I have No VIdeo / Display with this card.
I got into windows and it shows GTX 295 now in Device manager ( didn't before while in second slot) .. getting code 40 i think. least it shows up now

PLEASE someone help biggrin.gif:D...

I hope someone can help, this is driving me nuts.
NVFlash is recognizing my GTX 275 in my SECOND SLI slot ( right now i have a x1650 in my first slot)

i'm getting
" Supported EEPROM not found " ??
i'm using version 5.9 ( it sees it as GTX 295 ?)
(5.6 saw it as "200 series card"
5.5 couldn't see it

here's what i did

using 5.9 now

"nvflash -4-5-6-i0 BFG.rom"
also used
"nvflash -i0-J-R-P-4-5-6 BFG.rom"

I also Put the GTX 275 in slot one and successfully did the above BLIND biggrin.gif
didn't work either.

It is in 0 (Zero) position when i use --check

Should i use "--index=0" or is "i0" the same

I've seen people have this message on Boards and they worked around it with older Versions.
I know that this card might just be DEAD though ^_-

I also get GTX 295
<0> GeForce GTX 295 (10DE,05E0,FFFF,FFFF) H:--:NRM B:0Z,PCI,D:00,F:00
EEPROMID (20,00FF)

I can't say I've tried flashing my EVGA GTX275, until I get a better CPU and have any reason to play with any OC on my GTX, I figured I'd just leave it.. But considering it is an old-ish card by today's standards, perhaps finding a releave of NVFlash that came out around the end of 2009 would help?

From personal experience (i.e.: flashing a 6800GS, two 320MB 8800GTSs, one 512MB 8800GTS and a 9800GT), http://www.mvktech.net/ is about the best resource for GPU BIOS tools and files.

Also, I would recommend you remove all GPUs from the box and run only the GPU you intend to flash in the primary slot. Once it's flashed you can rearrange the cards again if you like. But from personal experience I can tell you even with specifying the card to flash (using --index=x), there's more space for things to go wrong.

Here's what I would try: Get the latest BIOS for your manufacturer/make/model from MVKTech's database, look for a version of NVFlash from late 2009 (should be around version 5.1.x.x I think), make sure the BIOS file name is something short and simple (1.rom will work fine), then put in ONLY the GTX275 and try flash it again.

Not sure if you tried it or not, but until you get a working BIOS, don't modify anything in the BIOS file before you flash it... Once it's working, if you want to play with it, then take the one you know works and tweak it from there.

I did some testing last night at home.. I successfully re-flashed my card's standard BIOS (from MVKtech) to my GTX275 using nvFlash 5.77 (download). If you're still having trouble, maybe try this version and see..

Thank you so much Zalith, your help has moved me in the right direction. Card still isn't working properly but i'm not giving up yet. It's an odd painful satisfaction i'm after lol.
Maybe it's some odd thing with BFG .. idk yet frown.gif

Did you just use the line " NVFLASH .rom

I tried that Version and unfortunately i'm still getting gunner2.gifgunner2.gif " supported eeprom not found". everything from version 5.63-5.93. Also tried everything you suggested.

I think someone tried to flash this card and screwed up !! IDK how you try flashing a gtx 275 to a 295..

MKVtech has helped me allot too .. posted a thread here.
http://www.mvktech.net/component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,34/func,view/id,44531/catid,13/limit,10/limitstart,10/

"supported eeprom not found".. This is driving me nuts, i'm looking at the dam chip !!!

From people having the same problems on different sites, it seems the correct NVFLASH version is needed and some people got rid of the error
- tried every NVFLASH from 5.63 to 5.95
- used everything in the command line i could.. sometimes seperately
" NVFLASH --index=0 -r-j-p-4-5-6 1.rom ( i named it 1.rom bfg bios)
(i also use " -i1 " shortened form of < --index=0 >

- I have also tried JUMPING the Physical chip between pins #1 and #4 which is
(connecting the two pins together using tweezers .. or wired could work)
1. CE # (ground)and 4. VSS

pin #3 WP is (write protection) .. i'm wondering if jumping that will do the trick.
http://html.alldatasheet.com/html-pdf/170665/SST/SST25VF010A-33-4C-SAE/216/3/SST25VF010A-33-4C-SAE.html

--list still shows gtx 295
--check ( checks eeprom ) "supported eeprom not found"

I'm over at http://www.mvktech.net getting some help also, as well as

MKVtech is quite good, they should get more recognition over there ^_-
especially NIBITOR....

I'm going to be a frickin expert by the time i'm done with all of this. If i get it working i'm doing a write-up for reference.

Not giving up yet... Either the card is just completely SHOT or i'm missing something simple !!

This problem is so frickin specific i feel like i should get in touch with Nvidia Engineers lol
