Best way to clean radiators

Hey guys and gals, stripped my loop today ready for rebuild tomorrow. Coolant was very dirty :/ so want to give everything a good clean.

What's the best way to clean rads and cpu block? I got a load or distilled white vinegar and distilled water tonight, is that still the best way? If so what ratio etc

Yes, distilled water and vinegar will work just fine. For the CPU block, disassemble it and soak it in 100% lemon juice for 3-5 hours, then use an old toothbrush and finally rinse with distilled water.

Thanks for that. How long should i leave the rads to soak? Overnight ok?
Few hours should do it, but you could leave it overnight. 4 maybe 5 parts water 1 part vinegar and make sure you rinse thoroughly with distilled water afterwards, 3-4 times to clean all the vinegar.

Just flush radiators with hot tap water. Rinse with distilled afterward if you want. Disassemble waterblocks to see if there is any buildup in the channels. There is no need to soak anything.
It's pointless to clean with acid "just because". You said your coolant was "very dirty" what was wrong with it exactly?

Depends on what radiator it is. If Alphacool or Phobya, get some Mayhem Bltiz to clean them properly or at least some citric acid/white vinegar run. Most others running hot water seems to be enough.

I just run hot tap water from the shower hose and then shake the rads a couple of times, and then I rinse with destilled water. I have alphacool ones. Its no rocket science. And after 1.5 years my CPU block still looked fairy good.

My liquid is getting blue and it's common with these Alphacool rads. I used citric acid run + hot water + distilled rinse, but apparently it wasn't enough. There are probably no debris, but I'll check tomorrow when I get my other rad delivered.

That is why you need to "flush" out the debris, and that is why you disconnect the shower hose and connect it to the rad inlet and go full "throttle". Just soaking the rads wont make the debris and dirt that is etched to the material loosen up.
