Looks like the GA-B85N can overclock. The voltage is locked at 1.2v But I did manage to squeeze out 4.2Ghz on STOCK COOLING. EDIT: 4.3ghz crashed on longer stress test. 4.2ghz passed 1024M wPrime

Tried a G3258 with the MSI H87I AC mini ITX board. Unless I am missing something, it seems to not be able to OC. It has all the software for it, and also OC Genie, but it looks like it's all useless.

4.2Ghz @ 1.2V --> voltage capped GA-H81m-h (F8 BIOS) result on OCUK http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?s=bce4596f0ed7c9e60b125e7dbe7bc65a&p=26623338&postcount=30

Supposedly GIGABYTE GA-H81-D3 is able to hit 1.2V http://extremespec.net/gigabyte-ga-h81-d3-motherboard-review-design-testing-performance/2/

I suspect the GIGABYTE GA-H81.Amp-UP (which is about $70 but has superior audio) should also top out at 1.2V

Awesome stuff. I give it a month tops before Intel brings down the banhammer. Luckily I have all the BIOS' saved.

Biostar's Hi-Fi H81S2 looks like it could be a competitor @ $60 if you're looking at ATX boards: http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/introduction.php?S_ID=658#ov

At the end of the day the MSI Z87-G41 PC Mate is going for ~ $60 and you don't need to worry about Intel banning overlock on non-Z

I'm looking for a mobo to go with one of these, I can't find that msi pc mate board for less than $70, newegg has it at $69.99 after $10 mail in rebate and it has terrible reviews.

Is there a clear winner in B or H mobos that can overclock this with preferably unlocked voltage?

edit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132083&cm_re=asus_h81m-_-13-132-083-_-Product
I see that mobo on newegg for $50 after rebate it is H81M-D plus.

Seems the difference between the H81M PLUS and the H81M-D PLUS is the H81M-PLUS has a built in hdmi port

H87I AC overclocking

MSI support overclocking on the Intel Z-series mainboards.
H- and B-series mainboards do not support overclocking,
Other vendors might have chosen to enable this on these series, but this is not allowed by Intel.

Is anyone using the ASUS B85M-E to overclock the G3258? Is it a good alternative to a more expensive H97 or Z97 motherboard?
