Help Needed

Hi,

So I've had a 760 sli system for a few months now. Earlier today my PC shut itself down and wouldn't boot.

I removed one of the cards and it was fine, but when I tried with the other card it would switch on. The odd thing is that if I have the power connectors in, but it ins't in the PCI slot, then the card's fans start spinning, but as soon as that card goes in any PCI slots, then it doesn't boot.

I know this isn't an issue with the PCI slots, as the PC boots with the good card in any PCI slot.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

My suspicion, which I'm sure you are probably thinking by now too is, the card may have died. Before we come to that conclusion though, do you have any friends who have a computer that you could try this video card in to see if it works in their computer?

It's a computer!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply! Sorry I didn't reply, but for some reason I didn't get an email alert for your post...

Yeah, I actually tested the card in another machine, and it wouldn't boot with the card in any of the PCI slots.

I sent it back to Scan, and they've issued a replacement (which should arrive today...)

I thought it odd that the card did fail, as it was running off an AX760, and MSI use really decent components for their cards. Also, my case is well ventilated and I regularly clear dust out. Just a bad card I suppose!

Thank you anyway smile.gif

Are you subscribed to this thread? I mean, if not, then the only way you'd get a notification is if I Quoted you like I did here (which I failed to do in my other post here). Except, you wouldn't get a notification from that if your Preferences are such that you're NOT set up to receive a notification when someone Quotes you.

It may have been slightly defective from the start and you're just now finding out.
