We don't know about the T2 yet, but I doubt it will match the AXi. It will definitely be close though, and cheaper.

I'm not entirely convinced the HCP-1300 would provide enough wattage, OCP kicks in at just over 1400W from my testing so you may end up triggering it with a decent overclock on your cards and CPU.

290X @ 1.35V/1150MHz = ~422W

3930k @ 1.29V/4.6GHz = ~201W

(422x4)+201=1889W

Of course, you may not be overclocking the GPU's that high but it just shows how quickly power draw goes up, and that's not even a particularly extreme overclock.

Yeah, I've been considering going the "smarter" route & getting a secondary PSU, or getting 2 units I can link together that will power the system together, using the second one just for 2 GPUs or so.

In that case, the Antec 1300W & a smaller Antec unit of the same line would be able to link together with those newfangled dohickys they have right? Excuse the jargon, I haven't had to purchase a new PSU in 3 years X_X lol

I believe this is what I'm talkin' about:

OC Link™ - Allows 2 HCP Platinums to work in tandem to power the most demanding systems

So yeah according to Antec that would work... Maybe I could do like 2 1KW units? That would probably be smarter one would think... or get the 1300W for the CPU + 2 GPUs & the rest of the system then a 850-1000W for the other 2 GPUs... Hmmm.

Most likely I'm going to be safe & only run 3 GPUs til I get this PSU decision sorted & ordered, as like I said with my current PSU I have to run those adapters just to get the 3rd & 4th 6-Pin PCI-E connectors I need for QuadFire, which is why I didn't run it for more than 1-2 hrs at a time for some benchmarks at all-stock at the time.

(Note: this picture is old the inside of the computer looks a bit different now, new fan on the back & in some other places & what not)

You can see what I did in that picture, that's before I actually hooked all the power up... still praising all that is holy I got rid of that stupid VisionTek card I had on top... such a stupid design by them on that aftermarket cooler, bad temps & the backplate makes it impossible to mount anywhere but on top in QuadFire on my board.

The 1000 watts version in an older version of the same platform and the 850 and 1300 watts improved it a little bit

Question, does this PSU have a relative/PSU from another brand that's the same thing that's currently available?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438004 eVGA 1500W Classified Unit

I know it wouldn't be enough if I OC the GPUs persay, but a unit like that, combined with a more medium sized one, would be pretty awesome...

Primary consideration right now is still the Antec 1300W + another Antec unit it can link with for when/if I decide to OC the cards beyond what that PSU can handle.

If you don't mind the dual PSU option, just grab two SuperNOVA G2's. They would offer the best value by far.

My brain keeps forgetting the facts you stated, which are, blatantly and 100%, I need a second PSU if I'm going to run QuadFire & OC, so I keep thinking I need a PSU with 8 or more PCI-E connectors... I think my plan is going to be for the near future, get the Antec or wait & see what the newer eVGA 1600W has to offer, and run the cards at stock whenever I am running QuadFire, and then later on I can buy a second PSU, depending on what my first one is, to power (most likely) 2 GPUs adequately for OCing purposes on all 4 with the primary, bigger PSU running the systems + the first 2 GPUs.

It's really nice that companies like Antec & others have made such progress in terms of making a dual-PSU setup so easily doable. Back when I got my first AX1200W you had to get those fancy wires that combined the 2 24-Pin plugs from both PSUs in to one to make the motherboard kick both PSUs on, or otherwise hotwire it somehow to get both to work on a regular rig like mine (by regular I mean non-dual CPU setup etc so it's not designed for 2 PSUs persay).

i have the Antec 1300W running the SR2 build in my sig and that rig pulls around 1550w-1600w with the slightly overvolted 680s and the unit hardly breaks a sweat the air coming out of it is cold

i had a TruePower Quattro TPQ-1200 OC before that and it ran like a champ antecs flagship products maybe a little more pricey compared too other units but the build quality is hard too beat

Yeah I've seen 4-5 people now that have given the Antec great reviews that own it themselves, it's definitely my top candidate despite there being "higher wattage" units available. Right now, I'm dealing with a R9 290 I got when it was supposed to be a 290X from a clearly dimwitted seller who either got caught trying to sell it as a 290X, or is too "out there" to realize my offer to exchange it for one he can verify is a 290X is a good idea, so until that's resolved, one way or the other, I won't know how soon I need to get the Antec PSU. With the HIS cards coming in Monday, I'll test then run them, and that's 3, so my current AX1200W should handle that just fine... I have no 4th 290X until the issue with the other guy is resolved and I get another one or I get one from him. At that point, I'll upgrade PSU as soon as I have the funds free, then get a secondary PSU whenever I get around to wanting to start OC testing.
