MSI 970 Gaming anyone? - Page 29

80c is not a problem for the NB. Its on a much older process and is fine up to the temps you would normally see on a GPU. You can try replacing the TIM on the NB, that might help.

Sorry, what is the TIM? And, is basic voltage for the 970's chip set at 1.1 good?

tnx redface.gif

TIM = Thermal Interface Material. heat sink paste, putty, or pad

AFAIK 1.2v is well within safe levels. If you do not know what you are doing with it yet, set it to auto.

ok thank you very much for help.

That's right. Getting a 4.019ghz (fsb 201 and 20x multi) tested with:

1) IBT 10 times at very high stress test
2) Cycle of Prime 95 should be 21 hours for what i read.. anyway atm after 3 hours still no errors.

Unfortunatly i did not having so much luck with the vcore (1,328v maybe pretty high winksmiley02.gif ) . I don't know if it is cause of the cpu or the MSI mainboard.

Maybe i should post some screen redface.gif

( Anyone have/can share some BIOS screen where i can read some informations?)

Umm, 1.33v is just about stock for some chips. Most Ive used dont scale really well until you push 1.4v or more. 1.5v is easily reliable 24/7 if you can cool it.

Well, forgot my chip. It's an fx 8320e.
Well, i did not have much more room with temperatures cause of my small heatsink, according with package temperature (from hwmonitore & core temp, that is the same) i'm up near 57-58 °C.
And i'm scared about tmpin1 emp, it will go up t 90°C while prime 95 without active fan cooling (minding on build homemade).
Asked at MSI, and they said (just the same answer we saw in this thread) that i have to refere to the BIOS Mainboard temperature.

Normally the system will automatically power off if it overheats. Unless you messed with fucntions in bios and turned off protection.

If you have a stock amd 125w heat sink, and you are running 1.24V in prime without overheating, that means your chip is great.
I had a 8350 and it will go pst 90C with stock heat sink at stock 1.24V

Have to post some bios option. At least i can share with any other one in this thread. Anyway, i did not disable protection, even if i did not know how some function works on system.
Unfortunatly 1.24 v is far from stability on my chip blushsmiley.gif
Got a zalmann 5x performa, not very good for an fx, but seems to be better than the stock one

I am just pleased that the board has zero issues running at stock speeds 24/7. The Asrock 990FX Extreme 4 board I replaced would lock up randomly if I used the front usb 3 ports. (This was regardless of the case I used.) This new board, that I have had since late August, 2015, does not give me any cause for concern. (FX8350 at stock speeds with a Hyper 212 Evo.)
