I still use windows 8.1 on laptops. It is like pulling teeth every time I stare at it. I did install Fedora on my work machine so I don't have to fight the os to get stuff done. Windows 8.1 is a complete waste of harddrive space. If I could delete the os and never go back I would. But I have to have it for the office server.
The one thing I don't understand from a security point, I must install a third party "hack" to get usability out of my computer? I must install a third party "hack" which may or may not be updated, contain virus, backdoors, or weak spots, to fix an os. AND that is acceptable to some people?
If I am going to have to install a third party "hack" to get windows 8 usable, why not just install another os to make the whole computer usable?
Windows 8 is by far the worst os I have come across in a long time. Worst then ME and worst then vista. Why? Because ME and vista where simply accidents, miscalculations by Microsoft on what the people wanted. Windows 8 was intentional. Microsoft tossed the user under the bus so they could ram their "store" down peoples throats.

I am going to need you to explain that one. If you did not have a screen full of shortcuts, you would have a screen full of shortcuts?
