Cooling the 4790K?

Thread Starter
Hi all, posting here as this is not for air cooling or water cooling.. Yet..

So I'm building a new rig, and trying to decide what/if I need for cooling...

As you know this is the latest i7 running @4Ghz.

Question would be:

- If I were to run it stock, do I actually need an alternate coolng solution or should I just use the stock cooler/fan?

- if I want to overclock (or if I need alterante instead of stock) is it better to use air or water for this one?

- my case is the phantom 410 from nzxt so a water option fits on the top of the case as long as it's dual 120mm I think.

- in case of going for water, is it very difficult for someone who never has to install one?

- in al cases would Imstill have to buy and apply thermal grease/compound?

Thanks.

AIO coolers(water) vs air coolers is debated a lot and it comes down to preference. If you want to run stock there is nothing wrong with the stock cooler, it will be a little louder and temps wont be ideal but its perfectly fine for stock clocks. AIO coolers are actually easier to install in a lot of cases over air coolers. I prefer air coolers for many reasons. I recommend THIS air cooler. 2cents.gif I recommend you do your own research for yourself to decide if you want an AIO cooler or air.
