Is this a real WMO? - Page 2

Just ordered mine on Amazon via a german retailer. Does anyone know if it's real? IMG_0394.JPG 2187k .JPG file

The sticker seems to be off put :x

The only way to ultimately determine fake or not is to open the mouse and look at the PCB.

i think that if it tracks like an mlt04 does, it's probably as good as a real one (that is possibly used/refurbrished)

what would indicate that one is fake or real?

because i have a intelli 1.1A and a WMO here, but the intelli has way higher max. tracking speed..
i presume they're both legit since i've owned both for years now, but since they are supposed to be using the same sensor, i just want to find out why they differ in performance..

You probably didn't measure the CPI accurately before testing.

My IO is 415 CPI and my WMO is 425. That will change the results if I assume they are both 400 CPI.

regardless of the actual cpi, the max speed in mousetester/mosuetest/whatever, assuming 400cpi, is the same for all overclocked mlt04 mice. because the sensor doesn't know what its actual dpi is, since variations like 415 vs 425 are due to lens/height differences. so your 415cpi io has a slightly higher actual max speed than your 425cpi mlt04

you're right, i haven't. but i'm not talking about a difference of 5%, or even 10%. i'm talking 40%, maybe 50+%.
the difference is quite significant. i used the same USB port, naturally.

what's today's most accurate way to test tracking speed? and check cpi?

mousetester
http://www.overclock.net/t/1286992/mouse-fetish-club/300_100#post_24769659

mousetest isn't technically inaccurate but it's misleading in too many ways

for your reference, this is how a mlt04 looks in mousetester for a ~2m/s swipe:
108kfWh.png
the flat region in the middle is what happens when the mouse is going faster than what the mlt04 can handle (faster than ~1.6m/s). sometimes it's higher, sometimes it's even negative.

thanks for the link + reference.

did a few tests. WMO ~450cpi, IO ~435cpi. both running stable 125hz (checked with MMR)
IO tops at just over 0.9m/s
WMO tops at 0.35m/s

if neither are overclocked, shouldn't they be the same m/s? or am i missing something..?

edit: opened it up. looks like a pre-MLT04 version. sensor says Q2024 A0123. i read something about Agilent/Avago sensor housing the earlier versions, so i suppose this is one of those.

yup you've got either a fake or one of the pre-mlt04 versions
