HD 6970 - New cooler installed and temp checks

Thread Starter
Hi all,

So for the past few weeks have been having an issue with my PC where it would freeze after playing some games (i.e. BF4, Arkham Origins, Tomb Raider). After doing some checks noticed my GPU was exceeding temps of 100 degrees. So I decided to buy a after market cooler as I can't afford to buy a new card atm and installed it. First signs are looking good, GPU temps on GPU-Z show as Idle at 40, Load at 70 degrees while playing said games. However I noticed my GPU #2 and #3 temps are way above 90 degrees, #3 even going over 105 degrees.

Just need more information on what GPU #2 and #3 temps are really for and whether I need to re-install the cooler/heat sinks as something seems to be going wrong. I thought I read somewhere the GPU #2 and #3 are temps for the RAM/VRAM but not exactly sure. The cooler I bought BTW is the Gelid Icy Vision A. Preferred to get Arctic Accelero but could find none in Australia.

Cheers.

I see you have a problem with temps. This is very normal for this card playing this games.I reccomend to play games that require less video power or buy at least a 7000 series card.
