It's this one:

Does anyone here own this monitor? How is it? How much better then the VS248H-P do you think it would be? I noticed the viewing angle is 178 both H and V.

You'd be going from a cheaper TN to a cheaper TN. You'd kinda just be exchanging one brand for another, and not really upgrading anything.

If your primary concern is gaming, it depends largely on the specific monitor. The Viewsonic VP2770 is the best panel you can get below $1000, in the mainstream. If you're really going cheap, you can buy the Qnix Korean PLS panel which has no input lag and runs 120hz, but you risk big quality control issues and shipping it back for return or warranty is going to be very difficult and costly.

The Asus PB278Q is quite good too, but it uses PWM which is gross. The AOC 2770QPU is the same as Viewsonic as well for much cheaper, but it's built quality is much worse.

HDMI is fine on any monitor. It's the exact same as DVI.

Thanks. Thing is though, I want to stick to 1080p for now. I only use a Single GTX 570 and don't plan on getting a new card anytime soon. So I figure why not go a bit bigger at 1080p.

Oh. In that case, 27" 1080 screens are worse than 24" 1080 screens. The pixels will either be physically larger and less defined, or they'll be more pixels outputting the same resolution which looks jaggy.

If you want a top quality 24" 1080, get the new Dell U2414. It's the best 1080 on the market. I was debating leaving 2560x1440 for it...

I have a similar dilemma. I also have gtx570 like op and bought 27inch asus ve278h couple of days ago.

The experience from 24 to 27 is amazing. However in borderlands 2, i have the problem gridlron mentioned. In witcher 2 and watchdogs 1080p looks ok though.

So i am not sure about returning the monitor because it looks a bit blurry due to the upscale from 24 to 27.

I am thinking to get 2x 24inch monitors but it will be expensive and gamibg performance will be reduced due to the dual screen.

Also i prefer both horizontal and vertical size upgrade instead of going only horizontal.

There is asus 144hz vg278hr monitor which is 27 inch maybe you should consider it as well.

The panel for doesn't have much to do with input lag specifically. It's true that TN panels are faster but without getting into the science of how a monitor works, it has more to do with the scaler board inside, and IPS and PLS panels are typically meant for professionals and have slow boards.

If all you really care about us gaming speed though, the Asus swift is going to be so much better than everything in the TN market there will be no point buying anything else.

So much misinformation it's ridiculous. This is an old thread, but it's crazy how much people lie and make stuff up. The original monitor in question has an input lag of 9.9ms. Which is really amazing. It would do amazing for gaming. And then making claims about monitors with no input lag. There is no such thing. 9ms is the lowest I've seen. displaylag.com has an entire database of displays with input lag times.
