The first map for the Unreal Engine 4 based Unreal Tournament was revealed today. The map is still very much a work in progress, but you can check out some of the map in the video below (skip ahead to the 1:32 mark of the video).
It's not much, but at least it's something. Unreal Tournament is on track to ship, for free, with a Team Deathmatch mode. Other modes like Capture the Flag and Onslaught will be coming later.
*NOTE* The game is a work in progress. Nothing is final.
Too bad they've constrained themselves to NVidia Gameworks. UT games just don't have the popularity anymore to sway a crowd, but their engines are usually fantastic. I think primarily this intention is to get to the Tegra. Lots of UE3 games were made for tegra. So using Gameworks closes that gap.
How is is misleading? It's a concept that is the basis for the first unreal map they are working on. You gotta start somewhere and this is the start to the first map reveal.

That eggshell white surface is just so darn mesmerizing.
It can be used in horror as well as comfy environments.
I love it.
It's even better if there's an orange rotating warning light "Warning! Airlock breach in sector 14".
Early versions of the new UT have been available for a while btw.
There's quite a bit of stuff in there already.
