IN WIN 901 Case Owners Thread - Page 34

Hey guys,

Just a quick question I have been unable to find around.
I know officially this is a mini-itx case only, could it be rigged to accept a micro itx board? (24x24)
I can see there is some clearance both bellow and to the right of an installed mini-itx though I could not find more detailed measurements of the inside compartments to make a guess. I do have an arrange of tools but I d rather not cut such a gorgeous case...

If you look at laine's clarity http://www.overclock.net/t/1524804/laines-clarity-watercooled-inwin-901 . That's an excellent case mod journal for this and will give you a good idea of how much work has to be done.

My 901 a few posts up also has an M ATX board in it.
It will need a lot of cutting.

Progress so far. Had to do a little bit more cable management first, and waiting for a fan to come today for the back rad. So far so good. Res will be mounted to the top horizontally, as far right as possible, tight to drive cage. Between that and the pump, I'll have a good portion of the block covered, but access to fittings. Should still look ok, just a shame for such a good looking block.
More to come. Pretty excited

Progress report #2.
Pain in my rear. Had to take the pretty aluminum off to get access to everything better. Had to pick up a Dremel and do some cutting in the back (92mm fan hole needed to be moved up, could not mount in stock location because pump screws were stickin out the back).
Coming to realize that hardline will be extremely difficult with what I have going on. There will be runs crossing, but that's just the nature of the beast right now.
Plan is: Res-pump-120rad-cpu-92rad-repeat.
Looks ok in my head but things keep changing a bit as I go.
Current problem is, I went to do a practice bend before starting the runs, and I can't get the damn bending rubber into the tubing. 10mm id tubing, 10mm thick rubber. Not possible. Know a way to thin it out a bit? I know ek sells one that's 9.7mm thick, but do not want to order from them and pay the shipping to US, and just don't really want to wait either. Sooner the better, that's what I'm waiting on right now

My first build was with hard tubing and I swapped it out in the end... I like to play - change out CPUs and so on and the hard tubing means emptying the loop every time. A huge hassle.
Anyway,
I used super soapy water in the tube and the rubber slipped through ok. Afterward I gave it a good wash with boiled water - cooled down a bit.
If it's still difficult you can try attaching some fishing line to pull it through - it gets slimmer when pulled.
Good luck!

Hey guys, great thread! The 901 is the most aesthetic case I have seen so far, I'm considering getting one myself!

Would anyone mind measuring the distance between the rear panels please? I've seen some of you squeeze a radiator in there and would try to go custom WC on this thing too. smile.gif

Loving the pics! Keep them coming thumb.gif

Don't have a super exact measurement, but I have a 45mm rad and 15mm fan in that space. Very tight, but it fits. So 60mm

I no longer have my case, but if I remember correctly it's approximately 63mm. Tough squeeze!
