At the moment I only have one case fan in my tower. It is mounted at the top at the moment. Where is the best place for it and should it be blowing in or out?
You can experiment between intake and exhaust, but every time I see a case that has just one fan, it's in the rear exhaust spot. This is a good spot because it's sucking hot air out in a place where the air would be at its hottest. Of course, having top fan mounts can give you the option to experiment with having this fan be a top exhaust. I don't know which would perform better, so it may be necessary to experiment.
Usually it's easier to have a single fan as exhaust as air will still be pulled in via other areas of the case (between panels, cable tie notches, etc) rather than running it as intake because the air will usually just stop flowing past a certain point and get stuck inside the case (unless it's a really powerful fan).
Thank you all so much. Really need to break down and buy a new case but need to find one that has fans, space enough for hyper 212 evo, front usb and audio port and fits budget. Lol. That's all

Really, the P180 is not a bad case. In fact, with a few mods it would be a very nice case.
The mods I would suggest are:
Add 2x intake vents in bottom; one for PSU and one in front of PSU.
Mod the case divider to allow front bottom intake and bottom middle intake to flow air up into motherboard area of case.
Put some magnetic mounting filters on all intakes. Silverstone and Demciflex have tiem.
Raise case so it is 35-40mm between bottom of case and what it sets on to give bottom intakes better access to air.
Remove PCIe slot covers from back to allow more airflow out the back.
You might find 2nd link in sig helpful. It explains case airflow and cooling.
First link is about using PWM control to control case fans. Phanteks has now released their PWM controlled variable voltage fan hub which means we can now use 3-pin variable voltage case fans and control them with PWM signal.
Another option for USB is to use a USB hub. I find it handier than USB leads on front of case and mine is axillary powered so can be used as a charger for other USB devices as well.
