so after adding a standard 120mm molex fan puling air out, temps seemed to be 2c higher?
This does't make sense!

Are both fans pushing the same way?

Despite this common practise of adding 2nd CPU fan, best case scenario all you could expect is improvement by only 2C or so.

In your case the second fan is probably too weak, so it's actually not helping but disturbing the airflow the stock fan creates. You are better off just replacing the stock fan with high performance one (max CFM should be at least some 90CFM if you want to see a difference). And if your cooler is not EU version (reduced RPM version), that is, your stock fan spins at 2000RPM, I suggest you not to bother as your stock fan is already capable enough (83CFM). Well unless you buy something like Scythe 110CFM fan, but I'am not so sure if CFM above 90 gives significant returns as this kind of airflow might not be able to pass throw HS.

I won't bother spending even more money, I'll just remove the 2nd fan and it's ok.
Well as you wish, but for $10 you could decrease the temps by some 5C.

I wish it was that simple.

The only 80+cfm fan I could find locally or online with delivery in Cyprus, was the AKASA VIPER and it will cost me 15 Euro, that's more like 20+ USD..
I can get the ARCTIC COOLING F12 PWM REV.2 FAN 120MM for 5.5 Euro but that's only 74CFM..

Not familiar with the stock fan. What is it?

Also, what case do you have and what fans are you using in it. Often improving case airflow does more good than changing / adding cooler fans.
You might find 2nd link in sig helpful.

Indeed.
Thanks.
Does not say what fan it is, just gives specs, and I take all spec with at leaat a grain of salt, so with a bucket of salt.

my 2nd fan?
it's just a cheapo no brand 120mm molex 1200 rpm fan, bought fpr 1.5 Euro..

I found the CM Jetflo for about 15 Euro which is over 90 CFM.

Case cooling is as good as it gets without installing top fans (top is taped, not risking spilling any liquids inside):
carbide 200r, diy cut front (this helped temps immensely), 2 front fans, 1 back fan, 1 side fan.

However, I think I'll just save the cash and remove the 2nd cheapo fan (also remove the 40mm noisy back socket fan which doesn't actually do any good either), my temps aren't that bad (under 60c prime95) overclocked to 4.2GHz (FX8320).

I know u think they are high but temp right now is 36c inside!!!
Come winter temps will drop 10-20c and I can overclock higher without worrying..

Indeed. You are running normal temps. Enjoy what you have. If you ever do go with a higher cfm fan on cooler, do yourself a favor and get two and put one on rear exhaust controlled the same as CPU fan to pull all the heat coming out of cooler out the back. Really does make a difference.

X5460 4Ghz 1.38v

after 10min of OCCT temps peak at 64C.

If you looked closely you would have seen my reference to the source showing it being at least just as effective as CM 812 which in turn in that chart archieved the exact same performance as your magical cooler.

EDIT: I see you are using CM TPC 812 yourself... *****!

'Are you really that broke?'

It cost $35.00, so for $25 more, it's like night & day. Are you really that broke?
I'm not ignoring the temperature difference; the 212 evo is for low budget systems, and for some of those systems, $50 is a ton to spend on a cooler. The reason the 212 Evo is popular is because it's a very cost-effective cooler. Sure, the Phanteks performs better; but that doesn't really matter if you can't afford it. That being said, I don't think the 212 really belongs in any build over $500; at that point you should be able to get a better cooler.
