Sony actively rejected EA Access for the PlayStation 4. "We evaluated the EA Access subscription offering and decided that it does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect," Sony said, adding that the success of PS Plus "shows that gamers are looking for memberships that offer a multitude of services, across various devices, for one low price." And, just in case we hadn't got the message, Sony's statement concluded: "We don't think asking our fans to pay an additional $5 a month for this EA-specific program represents good value to the PlayStation gamer.
$5 a month is nothing if EA updates the library with all of their titles.
Sony are being quite daft...why say no to something that will be a selling point on their console.
So now Xbox one has exclusive rights to this.
Parents and gamers alike are always looking for ways to get games for the cheapest possible amount.
Can't stand EA but this is pretty smart.
Doesn't just net them cash, it also grows their user base.
What? This would save a lot of people money. The mindless haters hit these threads so early. I agree that Sony probably doesnt want EA eating into their profit margins simple as that.
It's basically GameFly (I think) but purely digital. No waiting on games to be in stock. You pay $5/month then can play any of the games that EA has added to the library. In theory this is a good deal if you play sports games but don't want to pay full price for the games. Hopefully they will add their more loved games as they come out like Dragon Age. I would assume there is a wait time before they would add new games, like 1-2 months after release.

I also think they are worried it will eat into their profits , I´d say EA will make up the money with DLC,Micro transactions and thus, people will have less to spend in the playstore
I love how Sony spin it

fans , seriously.
They don´t have to ask for anything do they ? ,just let the end user worry if it´s worth a fiver, I mean at least give them the option.
I'd applaud Sony more if they werent charging a monthly fee themselves for PS4 online access via Playstation Plus. Free online gaming with the PS3 was perfect.

Sony is now planning a subscription model for their PSnow, it would benefit them to not have a competitor in the same area that they are going into. You would have EA sub, PS+ sub and PSnow sub, that is too many subs.

. They don't want anything to take away from sales on their store. I can't believe the people in this thread applauding Sony for this. Yes, I know EA is not the best company out there, but it could have still been a good deal and they would not have to "force" or even "ask" people to subscribe to it.

Even if the program is bad or good, it doesn't make any sense not to have it. In the end, is the user option to buy it or not, let me decide what's best for me, ok?
I've given up on the BF series because EA are so money hungry plus I HATE origin! I dont mind buying a game once a year but I refuse to pay or buy anything else in game including add ons packs/maps.
Honestly I don't even know how many times EA can pull the rug from out under consumers before people stop trusting them. As for Sony, well I don't believe their reasoning but I can't help but applaud them for rejecting it.
Also those who say they are trying to "reduce competition," how? Xbox has EA's service, PC doesn't (and probably never will)and Sony doesn't, Sony has PSNow though. Please tell me how it's reducing competition to reject a service that they are already working on? How is this different from what's happening on PC between EA and Valve where EA doesn't place their games on steam anymore? Seems to me that it will eventually be EA Access vs PSNow just based on the fact EA doesn't settle for just their own library for long (see Origin.)
EA isn't doing this for the good of consumers so much as fattening their bank account. So anything that may stop them from growing further as an unethical behemoth is good in my book.
