Its probably more worth it to sell your old 7950 and get a r9 280x or a r9 290. I was running dual 7950s, the scaling was alright in most games but it consumed alot of power made alot of heat. I got rid of both of my 7950s and downgrades (in a sense) to a single r9 280x and couldn't be happier; It runs everything i want at what whatever settings i want @ 1440p.
The cheapest upgrade for intel would be z68 with 8 power phases or more and an i7 2600k/2700k and would be better sometimes than a fx 8320 at 4ghz in other would be about the same
And mantle should reduce a bit that gap

With the mx100 ssd i think i can benefit from the 8320 if i can clock it at 4.4ghz it give me like 25% more power because of 2 more core + the overclock about 15%
But arma 3 seem to be bottlenecked be the mainthread if you look at the bench the better ipc is on top
I can sell my fx 6300 for 90$ and spend another 70$ for a 8320 if it worth it and later upgrade for a new gpu
Or just wait and get a brand new setup
Or the i5 3570k ways i can have for 325$ pretty nice deal on used part
I5 3570k with high end rog mobo + 16gb ram just seen one
but i need to add a fan on the back of mobo im at 80c now with only my 6300
I had fx6300 @ 5ghz with a 660ti (close to 7950 performance). I moved to sli and in a lot of games it worked fine. However the one game that I wanted more fps was bf4.
It did increase my max fps but there were dips on the large player servers. Dips bad enough to get me killed at times. Later i moved to intel and all is well.
Its going to come down the games you play. If the game is very cpu bound then going sli/cossfire actually can expose that in a bad way.
Yes,that price is good for an upgrade anyway if you need a better cpu,uou can sell the i5 and buy a 3770k and take advantage of the extra threads(and will be slighly better than the i5 too) and also for sli,I tested and disabling HT.at stock clocks gave me less fps under crysis2 at 1080
And this with just a 7870 and all maxed

i think i will just push my 7950 im sure i can do 1200core this thing is sick and cool
for the 6300 im already at 80c at bf4 on the back of mobo so no im not going higher ahah
I will drop some money for upgrade each month and get an i7 im just not impressed with the i5 and the i7 is not really better i prefer core power than Multithread may be a 6-8 core
Im the kind of guy that push is cpu at 100% and hd at 100% all time multiple game internet tab and all Some time vmware etc
i have a g510 so hdd cpu gpu usage in real time
crucial mx100 512gb
Logitech g502s proteus
4gb ram to get dual channel ( 8gb ) idk if i can have dual channel on the the 2 of the same model and another in single? will test that anyways i have 1 2gb...
I played with 4gb before upgrading to 8gb but my cousin needed a 2gb ram stick and he got me a 2gb in exchange because the ram i was using was the only working on my mobo that i give to him
so at the end i have 6gb currently and im at 80% load in bf4 on a 64 player map but i dont remember the map i dont play often ahah
VMware with 8.1 use 75% ram so i want more
and the ssd will remove the most iritating thing i have now is hdd bottleneck the bf4 map the sound and ground is never loaded when i appear in the game duh..
and multitasking with multiple tab my hdd take a hit
Stick with the FX6300 for now, Make sure you have at least 6-8gb of system ram. Sell the 7950 and get a used 290.
A FX6300 and a R9 290 would be perfectly fine for pretty much any game.
Intel can wait, personally I'm interested in those 6 core Intel 2011 chips that are coming out. DDR4 is gonna cost big time I bet, DDR3 was outrageous when X58 came out.
Also SSD is a must these days, for a OS. The only PC I have yet to upgrade with a SSD is my HTPC, and boy do I hate the wait time. Not a big fan of waiting

i never used ssd even when i had the chance i did not idk why just to extend my waiting time i wanted a 512gb and now they are cheap
may sell the 7950 but here they sell for 140$ so i need to add 200$ and with the 290 temp im affraid of them i dont think their vrm are cold and will be able to fold
an asus direct cu ii is 500$ + 15% tax here in canada
(Brand new ) and used they are all from mining pc
idk im running at 1175 core my 7950 now so im not too bad..
