Since this thread is mostly about high-end pc performence issues, I'll throw in some GTX 580 gameplay of Witcher 3, for a good measure. smile.gif

I have a couple of complaints relating to visual pollution and the lack of granularity in the graphics menu. It's pretty good, with more options than most of today's console ports, but it needs work.

Firstly, the sunshafts are dependent on the bloom setting. If you disable bloom, you don't get sunshafts even if the sunshafts setting is enabled. I want sunshafts, and I would be willing to live with bloom, but bloom also silently enables this filth all over the screen:

Why the hell aren't all these effects separately configurable? I can't even find them in the ini.

And secondly, more unnecessary mess on the screen, but this rain effect isn't governed by bloom:

Does anyone know how to disable this?

Game seems to have awful animation transitions, resulting in "stuttering" or "skipping".

The funny part is that I spin the camera around slowly or fast, it's smooth as silk - Showing me that it is properly synced to my display and paced correctly (This is generally the easiest test for stuttering and pacing). Running at rock solid 60 FPS.

However when on the horse or running there's that stutter, which seems pretty clear is the result of an improper loop transition for the animation. Again, with no deviations from 60 FPS.

Seems to crop up in cutscenes too - Once again, in the cut scenes the camera pans are smooth as silk, but when an animation loads or changes there's a brief skip or stutter, perhaps as it's loading in a new one or something. It's quite bizarre. Might just be some problems with the game's streaming tech...

Running on a crucial SSD, Titan X, 3930K at 4.2Ghz, 1080p... Never had a crash or anything playing for like 15 hours. So nothing wrong with my system.

There are a few gripes for sure (I'm loving it don't get me wrong).

I noticed running above 60 frames results in a few bugs too. When capped to 144fps I was getting rag doll bouncing whenever I died or occasionally when killing enemies. So have just capped the game to how it was intended at 60.

crappy console design sadly. no precision in controls on PC.
otherwise ok.

enjoyed dragon age inq a lot more.
much better engine.

So is SLI not working properly for anyone else?

Using a config I got from a guy named Andy over at GAF, one card nets me 40 fps in this one area @1440p. Enabling SLI I'll get 50 fps. (I'm rolling 2 Titan X's at 1475mhz)
Without the config, the story is the same. GPU usage is also not at 98/99% like it is with just one card (power usage is also not at 99% as well).
I'll be giving MonarchX's post a shot later to see if that solves anything.

SLI works fine for me. Both cards at 98%-99% at all times.

I've found an interesting little quirk with Hairworks in this game.

Apparently the Hairworks tessellation is adaptive. How much tessellation is applied depends on which GPU you have. Maxwell GPUs are much better at tessellation, so the game renders a lot more detail in the Hairworks effects on those GPUs. While this may seem like a good thing, the game seems to add a LOT more tessellation to Maxwell GPUs causing a larger performance hit for having Hairworks enabled than it does on previous generation GPUs.

I found this while comparing performance between my SLI 4GB GTX 770s with my friends GTX 980. Enabling Hairworks on my system only dropped the frame rate by about 10fps, but there was a nearly 15fps frame rate drop on his system with all other settings identical. However, the tradeoff was that when we looked at the same hairy wolf, his looked better than mine. The difference wasn't drastic, but it was noticeable. I'm pretty sure they could significantly improve Hairworks performance on Maxwell cards by reducing the amount of tessellation to the same level used on previous generation GPUs and no one would mind the slight loss in visual quality.
