fighting is strictly technique, you can defeat someone many times higher level or get beat by someone at lower level unless you use the counter technique as zealord pointed out.

You never strike first. You back away a little so guy will throw hard punch (not fast one as difficult to counter fast ones), you counter his telegraphed hard punch, then you strike two hard (not fast) punches. Then back away again (so again he cant hit you with fast blows). He will telegraph hard punch, counter, and then repeat. Youll never lose a fight even if fighting much higher levels. On some weaker opponents once you counter, you can just pummel them, but tougher ones you have to stick with the technique til fights completely over.

The Tailor was a pain until I figured out the far counter technique. You still need to be nimble about backing up.

are you reading all books, doing races and stuff?

I was finished after 70 hours at level 35 and did all quests (also side quests, collecting Witcher gear etc.) except for horse races. And I even did some running around in the beginning exploring the map a bit and looking at scenery.

Wow you got thru quick, I'm expecting 120 hrs+ as some said it's a 200+ hr game. I don't even know how far I'm in yet, maybe half the main story and possibly half of the Witcher contracts and a quarter of the secondary quests. Only done 2 races and don't do gwent at all. It's not really possible to tell though, as I have no idea how many more quests I have to do

There's a lot of quests, just take your time and enjoy the scenery.
I definitely put in around 200+ hrs on my first playthrough, but that included doing every single thing, including every single ? On the map.
Great game.

I haven't played this game since launch (quit because I couldn't play without crashes at launch) and just started playing again... I never noticed before, but do crafted armors sometimes have random stats added to them?

I just started the game and I wanted to quickly replace my starter medium armor with some light armor... I had found three pieces and just needed gloves, so I bought the gloves schematic and crafted it and it had two more stats on it than advertised...

The base schematic said like +2% reduction to one type of damage, +1% to another, that was it... Just those two defense stats... Then I crafted it and the piece I got also had +6% attack and +4% Aard Intensity or something like that... Is that just a bug in the tooltip for the schematic, a bug in the craft, or am I just crazy?
