Looking to buy a Gigabyte 290 in the U.S.

Is ebay my best bet? The Gigabyte warranty is transferrable from my understanding.

Anyone know any other good places?

I personally don't have any experience with the XFX Warranty System. But there are people here in the forums that have and they could answer that question.

You guys are seriously both awesome. I'm at work and *trying* to focus while browsing, I didn't know if anyone would have any secret sites that I don't know about either.

Yeah man I've inquired about a few, trying to stay away from reference, they're gaudy IMO. I like stuff. If I could find a nice and decently priced Vapor-x I'd snatch it with haste as my water cooling kit is blue.

Thats Sapphire Dual X I posted earlier was a great deal. Its the closest thing to a Vapor X in the Sapphire Line that you can get other than a Vapor X itself. Dual X and Vapor X are exactly the same other than the "Vapor Chamber" that the Vapor X supposedly has.

you gonna watercool the gpu? if you are, then there is none better than a reference. none.

if you are not, then go ahead go for the Vapor X or even the cheaper Tri X. it is just awkward to watercool a system but the gpu.

I just started water cooling, haven't even hooked it up yet but ordered a raystorm, just going to do the CPU for now and add more later, my case is pretty great for air cooling, I'm only going with the CPU because my 2500k is at 4.5 and about to try 4.8 lol.

if you are watercooling the gpu eventually, i'd stay away from non-reference, especially the brand new ones. get a cheap 290 in the bay, test it on air thoroughly, then watercool it.

edit: i had mine since launch and tested it for week on air while i wait for the block.

not my highest and i am not saying you'll get same results but your chances of getting similar results with a reference is higher than otherwise.

you dnt need a custom loop for 4.8ghz a 50usd heatsink like the mugen 4 or a 70usd from ncix us like a nh d14 can make that job and if you want wcing then a 100usd glacer 240(swiftech h220)

But if your wish is a loop then go for it

I know I don't need it, I just made some extra money on bonuses last month so I just wanted to treat myself.

BUUUT I now own a 290!

Picked up a 290 and the seller accepted my $280 offer on this listing http://www.ebay.com/itm/291186966209?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I was actually JUST going to post and say get a Gigabyte Windforce, or an MSI (even though MSI has been slipping lately with their fan grease). Simply because of transferrable warranty. Asus...........nobody really trusts their CS department anymore, and XFX has been absolutely horrible since they switched to AMD from nVidia.

Yeah man that warranty is a really big sell. I had an ASUS Mobo die on me and it was a nightmare with them I won't go to ASUS For anything new anymore. I haven't heard anything about XFX but I know I'd rather stick to Gigabyte/MSI. Mainly Gigabyte all the way, almost went with an EVGA gtx 780 but I'm happy I got this 290.

Yes, Asus Warranty is a pain, when an Asus product fails. Most the time, in my experience, Asus products are pretty reliable and I have yet to have one of their products fail on me.
