Annaconda here I come!

Net worth up to 204Mill now.

What's involved with your run? What do you recommend, cargo wise? I kinda want to start being a pirate with my Clipper, since that ship's suited for it, but don't really know anything about it.

Is anyone else using the Rift finding things really dark now? Especially in stations.

I also can't see any of the red / green lights on the starport entrances - makes docking interesting in busy starports, especially with other cmdrs around.

I have been sorely tempted to do the Sothis run, but am currently doing the CG and love combat in high intensity CZ.

go to Sothis with a cargo capacity of 40 tonnes.

take all the missions to smuggle stuff that pays more than a million credits.

Restart the instance and take all the new missions, repeat until your cargo hold is full. If the port runs out, check out the other inhabited (named) systems nearby.

Sneak into the starport destinations without getting scanned

Deliver the cargo.

I must be honest, it's the most fun I've had in ED.

Avoiding the pirates, and the local cops, and the do gooders, and more cops and more pirates. Awesome. 2 hours of action packed flying.

Remember if you are in an anarchy system, authority ships can be outrun OR destroyed with no penalty and don't have an affiliation when you smuggle.

It's not a standard trade run, it's taking missions that shouldn't exist* from fringe systems back to civilized space for enormous profit, often facilitated by abusing the ability to regenerate the mission boards by switch game modes.

It's why a large part of open that would otherwise be crawling with traders, pirates, and others is now deserted...some people are at the CGs, and the rest are farming bugged missions in fringe systems for absurd profit. Sothis and vicinity is one of the more populated of these area.

There is no real point in piracy in these systems as the cargo is comparatively worthless. There is a fair amount of slaves/imperial slaves being moved, but by the time you stole a hold full you could have made 20 times as much just doing the missions yourself, so no one is doing it for profit, and piracy without a profit element is rare.

Also, people are wary and unlikely to be cooperative in these areas. I personally shot down a dozen CMDR Asps and half a dozen others in the area four or five days ago, and plenty of other CMDRs have been acting against traders in the area, for both in-game/character reasons and otherwise. Those inclined to move to Solo or Group have done so, and those remaining in Open are finally learning to carry countermeasures and to be prepared to flee at the drop of a hat, not wait for an unlikely attempt at parley.

*unless someone can explain how a ton of biowaste magically becomes worth 800k because it was shat out by people 400ly away.

Since the value of the cargo is on the order of 1% of the mission reward, it really doesn't matter if you get scanned. You just get fined a portion of the value of the cargo. Dock, pay it off, and collect 100 times as much from the mission reward.

Well, I'm glad you're having fun, but you and other abusers (some of which are far more flagrant) of these missions are crapping up the economy, and this is certainly going to have negative repercussions down the line, especially for those of us who don't feel inclined to cheese a broken system.

For example, future ships that may have been a bit of a stretch for my 550 million worth (which took almost a year and well over 1,000 hours to gather) may well be completely out of reach if Frontier decides they don't want everyone and their dog flying one.

You also have more people doing things like getting wings of armored stealth Orca together and just kill random people indiscriminately around starports. They can't be driven off, and you can't win a war of attrition against them; it only costs 8 million credits to buy rebuy an A grade Orca with reactive armor, and with money being free, this isn't a deterrent.

Most people aren't really even getting any enjoyment out of this because if you are purely profit minded, you do what is best for profit, and avoiding the threats you mention is a completely trivial task once you understand the system.

Edit: It looks like these missions have been pulled from the BBs as of a few hours ago. Can anyone confirm?

I wonder if they will send a Bank of Zaonce representative after the exploiting players, a la The Witcher 3...

That would be amusingly awesome.

Oh. Those. And here I thought ACTUAL smuggling / piracy was getting some love. I wasn't even aware of the location that these things popped up, since it's an exploit. Glad they're gone.

However, it kinda makes me wonder: I've been playing off and on since shortly before launch, and I've amassed a net worth of about 62 million (was up to 75, but an exploration disaster brought that down fast, since they introduced the parts resell penalty the same day I died 850,000 lightyears out. Quit the game for a month after that), and am rather pleased with my wealth. Done some trading (Broker), focused mostly on Combat (Dangerous), died horribly trying to do exploration; does it seem like Frontier need to increase payouts across the board? Everyone jumps on the new get-rich-quick scheme and makes millions because it's currently a snail's pace to make any good cash unless you either: RES grind as combat, or trade grind. And neither of those really makes a whole lot of cash. Maybe I just don't have the time to play that I used to.

I make about 3-4m / hr by bounty hunting in a high intensity RES. I tried a hazardous RES, but it seemed to just be the high intensity one without authority vessels getting involved. Since the NPC authority ships help you to destroy targets faster it means that a Haz RES is slower at making money than a high intensity RES.

I currently fly a FdL (still not sure if I prefer it to my Python), but honestly you could make the same in a Viper so long as you stick close to the authority ships and let them do most of the hard work for you.
