It's not really in early access.. It's a complete release with "extra content" on the way. I guess in a way it is early access, but that's a Steam term as far as I'm concerned. I'd say, just buy it now from Frontier's store and stay away from Steam for ED.

Are you finding yourself wishing for more buttons? That was one other thing. I don't need a ton of buttons (yet) but it seems pretty capable to me. I haven't checked out the community profile yet either

Yes, if you use the profile I linked to, you'll find there is a "shift" button on the throttle and one on the stick to get more functionality out of the buttons that are offered by this hardware.

EDIT: I'd also like to add that there is a definite learning curve coming from KB&M would would recommend going through training a couple times to familiarize yourself with the controls. There's a little bit of memorizing to do. Also, the cheat sheets that are offered at the profile link are very helpful thumb.gif

That is way too much money for the Hotas X. Hotas X is built cheap like the Logitech sticks, and is really only useful because it is (at least here in the US where it is normally 35 bucks) the cheapest HOTAS setup you can find that works at all.

What is the cost of a higher end hotas kit, like the Saitek X45, x52 Pro, x55, Thrustmaster Warthog, etc? At least here in the US you can score some of those for just a little over $100, which would make them a much better deal than the Hotas X for $100.

If you don't need a separate throttle (if you have a left hand gaming device like the G13 or Orbweaver, you can get away with using that instead in most games), you can also look at some of the better built stand alone sticks, like the CH Fighterstick.

Also, check the pricing and availability of the T.Flight 4 and T.Flight Stick X. The first is just a rebranded and slightly upgraded Hotas X designed for compatibility with the PS4 (but still compatible with PC as well). The second is the stick from the Hotas X, but with all the throttle parts relocated onto the base of the stick instead of being separate.

Off topic at the moment, but I thought I'd share some information.

When the game calculates your thruster efficiency, it is using you total mass. So, whatever your mass is at that moment. Same deal for FSD, though I'm not exactly sure why you'd stay within optimal for that, perhaps better fuel economy?

However! When the game calculates your ship's mass for your SHIELDS, it is ONLY USING YOUR BASE MASS. This is relevant to me because I want to keep my Anaconda at 400 tons of trade capacity (basically means that if I can find a loop route worth 2.5k credits per ton, I make 1 million every loop), and I lose a lot of cargo tonnage if I move to a class 7 shield.

Just thought I'd pass that info along.

Stay dangerous, Commanders!

I use a full CH setup, including the Pro Pedals, which I bought at the same time I became a beta backer, so it's pretty much what I've always used (though I've dabbled in a few other control setups).

I have the pedals control yaw and the toe breaks my forward/reverse thrust overrides, so I can get away with a more precise forward only throttle on the throttle itself (I have a reverse toggel button setup, but I normally just down back with my left foot to reverse with the toe break override). Also, I steer my SRV with the pedals as well, which lets me keep controls as similar as possible between driving and flight, for a less jarring transition.

Yes, thruster and FSD performance are calculated with total mass, shield strength with hull mass only.

Collision damage (both dealing and receiving) also seems to be influenced by total mass.

Best possible thruster performance is only achieved when you are using the highest class, best rated, thrusters you can mount, and have your total ship mass at half of the listed "optimal" mass. Many ships cannot achive such low masses in useful configurations, while others need compromises to do so. Being over this mass reduces all axis acceleration, top speed, and rotational performance...though the effects are quite subtle when it comes to the latter, unless you are hugely over mass.

The FSD needs a certain amount of fuel to move a certain mass a certain distance, so lighter means longer range maximum jumps as well as less fuel consumed for a given smaller jump. For traders this is relevant because the goal is often to maximize profit by using as few jumps to complete a route as possible. This is why you often see trade and exploration ships with all D rated internals, except for the FSD.

The short time I was trading in an Anaconda, I either ran no shield (risky in Open, which I generally never leave), or a small shield with a pile of boosters to maintain cargo capacity. You can go all the way down to a class 4 shield on an Anaconda, and even an A4 will still give enough protection to high-wake before it collapses, if you have 6-8 boosters.

I was running more cargo (on a 4A shield with boosters, too), but my friends would occasionally want me to pop in and bounty hunt with them. I grew tired of stripping the ship down and redoing it into a passable combat config, so I'm trying to get something that can do both. Bounty hunting in PvE is easy as heck anyway, so I'm certain a 6A+boosters along with A rated components of various types will be more than enough.

The problem is Hotas X is sold out everywhere in Turkey so some dealers are taking advantage of it. Regular HotasX price is actually 50 US dollars here.

Here are my choices

Logitech 3D pro 40$
Hotas X 100$
Saitek X52 280$
Saitek X55 330$
Hotas Warthog 600$

Sux really.

Also I cant find the other joysticks here.
