It need better manuverabilty. Enough where a good pilot can use it and the speed to make it combat worthy. Shields suck, espacially after changes in 1.5. A ship that is so big and cumbersome needs good shields. It can not really avoid getting hit. Also needs better power distrobution. It is pretty, but kind of useless right now. Unless you play solo and only PvE. I play open, try to avoid PvP, but will fight if i have too. The clipper is about as scary as a Type 6.

Agree the stock shield is rubbish. (size 6)

That's why I put an A7 in mine. and 3 A0 boosters.

On livelier note.

I am well on my way to rank 5 in powerplay.

If anyone else wants a weekly wage of 50 Million Credits - shout out and I can arrange.

The Cipper has relatively strong base armor, relatively light armored bulkhead packages, and tons of internals for HRPs. Conversely, it has weak base shielding and needs a huge shield gen plus boosters to have a useful level of standing shield strength. This leaves little room on a shielded setup for heatsinks to facilitate SCB use to recharge those shields, and no room for chaff or other countermeasures.

A sheildless stealth or semi-stealth Clipper doesn't need to worry about shields, can swing 3000+ armor, is still fast enough to disengage from most other combat vessels, doesn't need to waste utility hardpoints on boosters (three heatsink lauchers and a single chaff works well), can keep pips in WEP and ENG rather than having to devote them to SYS. Subsystems are protected by a combination of running silent most of the time, chaff (if someone gets close), plus the ability to drift fast enough (non-boost speed is the fastest in the game and to be outpaced your opponent must boost constantly) with a very strong pitch rate so that almost no one can stay behind you (forcing them to shoot you from the front, while critical subsystems are only easily hit from above, below, and behind).

What I did:

1) pledge to patreus
2) find out where he wants to expand into
3) go there and jump into the military strikes area
4) kill the red ships
5) check back at HQ with the bonds to earn rank points.

So far I have 5010 points in 2.5 days (6-7 hours). I am already rating 4 (5 mill credits) and I will make it to rating 5 either this week or next

If you are in a wing you can kill stuff faster - so the points come quicker.

Once you are rating 5, you can take the wage and use it to buy the military arms to earn next weeks points, and still be 45 million up.

If you want to get involved friend me in game, we can wing up and I will walk you through it. - You have comms?

I might join up with you guys. I can fit near anything FDL or lower, though I like the Vulture and FGS most. I've only got ~1-2 hours a day except on weekends. I'm CMDR bubbleawsome in game.

I'll throw together a combat Vulture and fly on over to your space. What system are we all gonna be around? I can't get involved just yet, but starting Monday I'll be game.

EDIT: My trade routes are in Empire space, and I know I'll be "hostile" if I do Powerplay stuff. That won't invalidate my routes, will it? The stations won't blow me out of the sky on sight, right? tongue.gif

EDIT 2: Sent both of you friend requests, CMDR Odan Brota in-game.

no it doesn't effect the stations at all. but you do get the odd hostile npc. easily dealt with. patreus is empire aligned anyway

The other upside is my combat rank has increased from expert 87 to master 44 in 2 days.
