CPU fan header (4pins) : not seen with Speedfan (no RPM, no speed control)
CPU opt fan header (4pins) : not seen with Speedfan (no RPM, no speed control)
SysFan1 header (4pins) : not seen with Speedfan (no RPM, no speed control)
SysFan2 header (4pins): seen as Fan1 with SpeedFan (yes for RMP and Speed control!)
SysFan3 header (4pins): seen as Fan2 with SpeedFan (yes for RMP and Speed control!)
SysFan4 header (4pins): seen as Fan3 with SpeedFan (yes for RMP and Speed control!)
SysFan5 header (3pins) : not seen with Speedfan (no RPM, no speed control)
SysFan6 header (3pins) : not seen with Speedfan (no RPM, no speed control)

Thanks to this new beta, I can control all my fans (connected to SysFan2-3-4 only) in my custom watercooling and adjust them not only with CPU temp but also with GPU temp.

Hey, that's cool! I gave it a shot just now on my GA-Z97X-UD5H, and, sure enough, it's working. Thanks for sharing!

Anybody try to run SIV as Administrator or download the older software and run it in compatibility mode? My Gaming GT will not be here till Monday so I'm shooting from the hip. I've never used the motherboard software on any board, I've always used a fan controller.

In case anyone else is wondering, the SpeedFan beta can control SYS_Fan 2 and 3 (the two chassis headers along the bottom of the board) on the X99M Gaming 5.

They show up in SpeedFan as Fan1 and 2 respectively.

No luck with any of the other headers though.

SIV remembers my settings, but doesn't actually apply them. For example, my CPU fans spin at near full speed when I login to Windows. When I load SIV, I can see that my fan profile curves are correct, but the fans are NOT spinning the right speed.

I make a small adjustment to the curve, then click apply, and the fans spin down to their normal speed. ..

Same situation in my case, H87M-D3H, after small adjustment on all 3 settings(cpu, fan1, fan1&2) all work perfectly, but, after reboot settings not applyed...mad.gif

I had the same problem. Finally switched to SpeedFan. Quite a learning curve but works for me!

Z97X-Gaming5 here,

before I would set the curve from SIV and it'll just work.

my curves were like for system 34C %0-36C 100% speed.

now, when I reach 36C they are still 0, even when I reach 37C fan doesn't start.
When it is 100% speed and drops to 34-33C so it should be 0%, it still runs 100% speed.

This wasn't present a week ago.

From SUV, I can manually control fans, or when I make adjusment to graph they work, but kind of a bug they don't work by themselves anymore.

Speedfan doesn't seem to work, what should I do?
IT reads all, but only controls GPU fan.

managed to get control of CPU fans but not Case fans...

it has pwm1-2-3 mode, 4-5 enabled. I set 1-2-3 to software, but only 1 and 2 being controlled by software.
other 3-4-5 fans are uncontrollable (systemfans)

Only CPU fan is 4pin, others ae all 3 pin. So I've control of one 3 pin and one 4 pin fans.

edit:
Okay it seems I got control of Fan 5 and Fan 4, Fan3, fan 1 and Fan 2.

But before my fans would just stop/start with gigabyte program, now with speedfan or gigabyte sysfan slows down slowly till it stops.
I wonder if something is wrong with my motherboard. All Others go to 0 as soon as I set them, this one slows down slowly till it reaches 0.

Before couple of days, sysfans would go 1800to 0 in a second, now they slow down by 50 RPM/second till they reach 0
Then (even with speedfan, I set them to 100%, they do not start working.)
Leds of fan slowly goes ON, and fan slowly starts running till it reaches its top speed,
they do not start one of a sudden as they used to be.

it takes over aminute for them to fully stop, or fully start.
but say, I set them to "ON" from speedfan, they just go to their full-speed, same applies to SIV.
Something wrong with motherboards controller but I am not sure.

CPU fan and CPU_OPT still work like they used to be, they can ramp-up or slowdown without any problems.

I wonder if my Mobo is broken..

I was not using sysfan3 header,

Connect fan to sysfan3 header, it is able to suddenly stop/start
it is not able to start or stop fast in sysfan 1 and sysfan2 headers.
also CPU_OPT header shows same signs.

I wonder what should I say to the Service, I am 100%sure they'll send me back and say "IT IS WORKING" mad.gif

SIV's manual setting works for sys1 and sys2 as it used to.
but graph or speedfan acts different on sysfan1 and sysfan2 header, and as it used to act normal onsysfan3 header.

they all was same couple of days ago, using this mobo for a year I know everything about fan control.

Fan headers seem to be enough to supply voltage required because Fans can get to their full speed, or they can stop, start manually.
but automatic controls seems to be ****ed up for sys2 and sys1 headers.

I have the black edition of your motherboard. I was researching why I couldn't control my fans through the bios and came across your website's rant on fake pwm. Like you I am none too pleased to find out Gigabyte gimped our motherboard. Were you able to control all 3 system chassis fans through Speedfan? I am only able to control the first one, I have zero control over the last two system chassis fans.

Oh, thank you for taking the time to read my website! Anyway, yes, I'm able to control every single fan header with SpeedFan 4.51. I normally use only two, but I've tested them all, and they all work. Just follow this article, and you should wind up with good and working fan control.

Hi,

I've the Z97X SoC Force and I can confirm, that controlling PWM4 and 5 with speedfan 4.51 halts the entire system. Furthermore, it would appear that speedfan cannot control the PWM1-3 headers at all, and does not report RPM as well.

I have twin NF-F12 on CPU_FAN and the corsair H105i pump on CPU_OPT. In SiV I can set the curve somewhat, but the temperature source is some internal sensor, neither GPU or CPU. Which is disappointing, since I want to install water cooling, and then the curve would have to take both CPU and GPU temperatures into account. This can be done quite handily in speedfan, but at the moment it seems it is unable to control the fans at all.

I'm not sure if any setting in BIOS prevents software control, I did try setting the fan headers on various modes (silent, manual, normal, full speed) but so far it had no impact.

I have not updated the BIOS yet, though.

Anyone had similar problem?
