(warning) Gigabyte isn´t offering any fan control anymore (z87-z97) - Page 23

I envy you to have an ATX mobo to play with so many SYS_Headers.

If I had just one more on my Mini ITX mobo, then my current headache will be solved

I posted below comments on my PC case thread to what I am targeting with my cooling set-up

the poorman hardware solution I have built (see pic) has had some positive effect on getting my gpu teps down but still I would like a more tailor made software control on the long run

my current situation

I control all my case fans via software Speedfan through PWM with Temp input from the mobo and Voltage output to manage teh fans speed

My CPU fan (the thermaltake NIC31) is linked to CPU temps

My SYS FAN (the case 200mm) is linked to both GPU and CPU temps

The 2 arctic F8 fan (rear case and the one placed side of the Grafix card) are daisy chained to the SYS FAN header via a PWM splitter

http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B00IP25S1G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I can not for the sake of it having the control of the 2 F8 fans separetely from the SYS fan, the software doesnt give me the possibility to add 2 specific PWM controls to achieve that, they just follow the SYS fan behavior in terms of speed

its not that they are loud, its just that I would like,in particular, to control their behavior as side Grafix card fan controlled by GPU temp and rear case fan controlled by CPU temp

What I am targeting

so to cool my GPU will be the grafix card built in fan + 1 arctic F8 fan located on the side of the card (see again my pics)

to cool my CPU,and mobo, the CPU cooler NIC31 fan,the front case 200mm fan and the rear case F8 fan

I am starting to think that my only realistic option is actually to go with a proper fan controller

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Maybe. Do you have room for a small one like the NZXT grid v2 ?

Another suggestion is to read through or ask over in the air cooling forum. I have gotten good ideas and suggestions from them.

So is the issue fixed for the System Information Viewer from Gigabyte where it doesn't save fan control settings properly?

no the issue is still not fixed. i dont know why gigabyte is not able to solve the problem.

Just use Speedfan to control the fans. it works 100% without problems for me on Z87x-d3h smile.gif

Ok I am confused. I was on the verge of ordering a Z170x Gaming 6 but I need more info now. I skimmed through the thread, but basically you're saying that the fan speed software Gigabyte has doesn't save or load your settings properly? If so how come no reviews have ever mentioned this issue? It seems pretty large to me. It sucks that you'd be force to use third party software for a function that should be standard with the hardware.

well, I'll be, here I went out and bought 4 pwm fans for my gig z97m-d3h mb thinking all the
headers were speed control ...
looked at mb manual again and even though manual say all fan headers are 4 pin
only cpu fan header has the speed control wire !!

Exactly, they didn't bother using the 4-pin headers but they put them on there so you'd THINK they were PWM. I mean, what other reason is there for a 4-pin fan header. It's irritating. That's when you realize that the Marketing people outmaneuvered the designers.

I have z97n gaming 5 smile.gif

Hi there again biggrin.gif I just came back reporting that it's still working, but DONT set the fan speed to Manual in bios setting becouse that breaks it!
So the steps to make it working:

- Set the fan speed in bios to "Silent" (It's on that orange-black uefi screen somewhere deep in the settings)
- Install System Information Viewer (I think I've just installed app center and let it download and install it.)
- Install the app: https://github.com/mareksuscak/FanFlow <- this will help loading the fan profile on startup
- Open SIV -> click Smart fan Auto -> click Quiet -> go to smart fan advanced -> calibrate, switch the fan with the bottom center dots -> set your settings and press apply on both fans -> DONE:thumb:biggrin.gif

I hope it works for you too, it works for me mostly biggrin.gif

My fans are set to Normal in BIOS and speedfan runs them just fine. Z97X Gaming 5
