What Is Minecraft?
If you have not heard of this sweet open ended sandbox game by now, I definitely recommend shedding that rock you call a home and take a look into it. So what is Minecraft exactly? It is fantasy RPG, hack and slash, exploration, farming, mining, hunting, engineering, crafting, and construction all rolled into a nostalgic 16 bit Lego style graphical wrapper. It is a game where you can get lost for endless hours underground, underwater, or in the sky. It is literally, whatever you want it to be. Just remember, YOU determine your own destiny and the life that your avatar lives. Possibilities and enjoyment are only limited by your own creativity!

The Usual Suspects (Be on the lookout!)
1. Creeper
This guy is mean, green, and hellbent on taking out you and whatever you make in a devastating kamikaze attack. Thankfully, he is relatively slow and makes a distinct "SSSS...." sound before going boom. Unfortunately, escaping their blast radius does not mitigate the damage caused to the surroundings, whic can potentially include your home. For people who like constructing things, the Creeper is your arch nemesis so always be on the lookout for this green fellow.
2. Skeletons
This guy is a bit more annoying than the Creeper as it has a bow and its definitely not afraid to use it. If you are within a 8 block distance from it, it WILL shoot you! Skeletons are also surprisingly intelligent given their lack of intelligence. They can pickup armor and melee weapons (and not only use them, but upgrade when they find better!) as well as circle around to avoid taking damage. Beware of them and do not underestimate them. If you can, it is always best to let daylight take care of them via burning them to nothingness.
3. Spiders
Normally you can keep most mobs separated by a short wall of stuff and laugh at monsters from afar. Attempting this with Spiders however, will just end badly. These guys are FAST and can leap 3-4 blocks so make sure your wall is actually a WALL and not a line of blocks. Fortunately, unless it is night time, they are normally neutral and will leave well enough alone.
4. Zombies
Like in most games, Zombies are the cannon fodder mobs. They are slow, stupid, and easy to kill. You can outrun them, lose them in mines, or just punch them to death. They are common though and can be found everywhere dark. Like with Skeletons, daylight burns them to a satisfactory crisp!
5. Enderman
This is a tall, lanky blackish blue being that are "neutral" unless provoked, though it certainly does not take much to piss them off. As long as you don't look at them from a 64 block distance, they will generally ignore you and continue with their normal activities, which is a nuisance in and of itself; they basically pickup blocks (even ones from your construction).
Note: There are numerous other mobs in this game. These are simply the most common ones that all players will run into.
