New build:
Lady of Electric Light

Hello! My name is Thierry and this is my build log. Here I will document the progress for my build. So without any more useless chitchat, let's get into this!

Specs:
  • Intel Core i7 5930K *CHECK*
  • MSI X99S SLI Plus *CHECK*
  • G.Skill Ripjaws 4 2400MHz 8x4GB *CHECK 4/8*
  • NVidia GeForce GTX 780 Ti *CHECK* (Will go SLI or upgrade to SLI newer cards)
  • EVGA SuperNOVA 1300 G2 *CHECK*
  • Crucial MX100 256GB x2 *CHECK 1/2*
  • Seagate Barracuda 3TB x2 (May be changed to a single 8TB drive)
  • Corsair Graphite 230T black *CHECK*

Of course these components need to be cooled appropriately. That's why I am constructing a custom loop

Loop (Put on hold until upgrade to Skylake-E): Warning: Watercooling! (Click to show)
  • EK Supremacy EVO Nickel
  • Clear acrylic tubing and nickel plated copper tubing
  • EK Coolstream PE 360, front, push, fans between rad and case grill
  • Mayhems pastel Ice White
  • EK FC 780 GTX Ti - Plexi Nickel
  • EK-FC 780 GTX Ti Backplate - Black
  • EK D5 Vario X-Top - Plexi + pump
  • Jack Daniels Master Distiller NO.2 Bottle reservoir EK X3 250
  • EK Coolstream PE 120, back, pull, fans between rad and case grill
  • EK Coolstream PE 240, top, pull, fans between rad and case grill
  • EK Furious Vardar F5-120 fans
  • Lots of 90° rotary fittings most of them black, one or two in white for contrast

Now if that would be all, it wouldn't be a true enthusiast build. So there are some more mods on schedule:

Mods (These mods will also be put on hold until Skylake-E hits): Warning: Mods! (Click to show)
  • The case will be Plastidipped white
  • Custom window
  • Hinges to make the sidepanel into a door
  • Custom front panel with custom dust filtering
  • Custom top panel with custom dust filtering to fit the 240mm radiator without any problems
  • Custom paint and stickers for hard drive and SSDs. (Plastidip with custom sticker over it)
  • Custom HDD and SSD mount
  • Black, and white sleeved cables. (Power, SATA, I/O, Peripherals)
  • Custom PSU cover
  • Metal frame that can house my PC, the three screens and the peripherals, for carrying.
  • Slimline optical drive mounted in the cable management area.
  • FUTURE PROJECT: Build a basement for 2 more 360 rads, to keep the CPU and GPUs extra cool
  • Plastidip for peripherals
  • More will probably be added along the way
  • RGB lighting
  • Resleeve the fans to match the build
  • Plastidip the radiators white

The colour scheme is neutral so that all the white in the build can reflect the coloured lighting from the RGB strips.

Now this beast has to be tamed in some way. So this is how I'll keep it under control:
  • Ducky Shine 3 DK9087, Cherry MX Blue, White LED mechanical keyboard *CHECK*
  • Logitech G600 black mouse *CHECK*
  • Corsair Vengeance MM600 mousemat
  • Behringer B3031A Truth speakers
  • Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm
  • Shure PG27 microphone *CHECK* (will be replaced with Blue Microphones Yeti USB)
  • AOC i2369Vm silver 23" IPS monitor x3 *CHECK 1/3*
  • Logitech G27 racing wheel *CHECK*

Mods until Skylake:
  • Plastidip the 230T white.
  • Plastidip the Crucial MX100 SSD white and add black stickers.
  • Plastidip my LaCie external 1TB HDD white.
  • Plastidip the silver parts of my monitor white.
  • Plastidip the audio setup white and black.
  • Add AF120 and SP120 fans with green LEDs to the case.
  • Replace HDD activity LEd and power button LED with green ones.

Bye for now!

-Thierry

I love your liquor themed build, but if I could make a suggestion, I'd go with rum colored accents instead of an all black build. Orange or brown seems to be as close to the contents of a Jack Daniel's bottle, so I would start there, and possibly go with a coolant to match. This way it gives the viewer the appearance that your components are being cooled down with some good old Jack. The other thing might be to accentuate that custom reservoir too if you went through the trouble of having it made. Maybe spotlights, or some other creative way to illuminate it with LEDs... Again, it's just a thought.

As for a name, I'd probably go with something alcohol related, like some cheesy pun, catch phrase, or obscure bar reference.

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Good luck.

You had a good point with it becoming too dark. I decided to change the colour scheme to black and white with whisky brown accents such as PSU, HDD and SSD stickers. And some white LED lighting to highlight all the cool stuff.

Edit: Sold my 4770K and got a complete refund on my 4790K, so I am ready for X99.

Jack Daniels reservoir. Sold. Haha.
Btw, not sure if rumored only, but nvidia is skipping the 800 series and going straight to the 900 series.

Yeah I saw that a few days ago, but I just don't bother tot change it untill NVidia says something about it.
