Why do you not want light inside the case?

WOW MAN! The extent you are willing to go to help me is just so uncommon to see!
I would seriously greatly appreciate it if you can look into that!

I don't want light inside the case because I desire a pure black look from the window panel with 2 windforce logo's only shining blue & nothing else.
It gives it that dark black with middle of case with 2 led logo's shinning blue effect with no other light being on.

Also want the front 2 fans to have that blue led circular effect that would show in front of the case.

So dark black with 2 blue led logo's in the panel and 2 very light blue circular led's in front of the case.
Minimal lighting but the parts that are lit'd would look amazing.

hey no problem, I find joy in doing this stuff, and if I can give someone a hand, all the better. I am moving too, so it might take me a few days to a week, I hope that is ok with you. I'll do my best though.

I'm going to brainstorm other methods, and it helps you're going for the case I have, as I can then test the application exactly how it would be applied in your case. I'll warn you though, blue light is quite harsh and "bright" no matter what, so you may still get some light bleeding into the case.

Could you do me a favor? either list here (or start a build thread) your complete list of parts (like everything you can think of) or PM me a list of parts? It might help to see what's going into the build, namely fans and such. Part sizes help too.

That Dark Rock Pro 3 is going to look sick though, I was sooooo close to going with that one, and it was then out of stock for quite some time, so I went with a different cooler..

GPU: SLI - Gtx 970 (I wish I can do 970 Xtreme since they are shorter then g1 gaming but we'll see what I can manage to buy)
SSD: 1 x 240gb Samsung 850 evo
HDD: 1 x 4TB WD Black & 1 x 1Tb Samsung Black
Cables: Cablemod Black E-series

Sweet, definitely let me know what you get in terms of video cards, as of now, there won't be a front fan on the bottom lol. Alright, I'm turning in for the night, but when I figure something out I'll either post here or PM you.

Something just hit me.

The node 804 can support 10 x 3.5" & 2 x ssd's total.
1) Is there even a Matx motherboard out there that has this many sata ports?

I was looking at the motherboard I got & it has 6 x sata ports but 4 of those slots are different from the other 2 (sata express).

2) How can you plug in 6 hdd's if 2 of the ports are different on it? Do you have to purchase a different type of cable?

Sorry, I'm not good with this stuff.

No worries,

There might be a motherboard in matx form factor that have a bunch of SATA ports, but not in the league of motherboards you and I have. My Maximus VII Gene has 8 I think. There are also expansion cards (HBA cards and RAID cards) that allow us to have more SATA devices.

Basically, our motherboards have more than one controller that different SATA ports run to. Most of them go to the Intel chipset, while the others go to whatever other vendor has a chipset on that board. I could be wrong though, I haven't kept up with motherboard stuff for a while, so z170 is new to me in that aspect.

1) Can you link me a expansion card that has 8 sata's?

2) Also can you try to answer #2 again for me? As you can see in the image below, this motherboard is advertised to be able to connect 6 x hdd's but I only see 4 sata ports (red box in image) that would fit a normal sata cable. How would you fit a normal sata cable to the blue box in the image?

That link in my post above shows 6 sata's but only 4 of those 6 are common one's that normal sata cables from hdd's can go into. The other 2 require a different type of sata cable?

Thanks!

yes you can do 4 x 240 rads. Use the slim Darkside rads at only 27mm. 4 will fit
