It very well could be. If that PSU has issues, it could be affecting total system performance.

I could give you a long run down of a PSU issue I had, but, I will say that once I got my PSU issues settled up, I'm much happier with system performance on all of my rigs. One bad PSU caused me a lot of upgrades and headaches.

Basically, my "Corsair TX850M" was causing issues, yet fully stable. I blamed all kinds of different hardware along the way before realizing what it was.

One thing, I have two other Corsair PSU that run fine without issues. A CX500M/CX500. So that TX850M was just a bad egg I guess.

Oh, the results I posted with my 1050MHz core all the way through was on a computer using a CX500.

*I replaced my TX850M with a SeaSonic X-850 gold biggrin.gif

What are some more symptoms or signs that I could look for? Should I really upgrade, do you this this is probably the cause? Anyone else have an opinion?

My last corsair psu was trash and squealed under load. I figured it was just a bad one, and since corsair is such a good company I bought another corsair brand psu. If this one ends up being the root cause of this I will be pretty upset at corsair...

Your MSI graph looks just like mine did before eventually refusing to even do stock clock. I RMA'd the GPU, and the replacement did the same thing.

I said it could very well be, but unless your GPU is throttling because of temps or something, after seeing your results there is no doubt in my mind that the PSU is the cause of your issues.

I'm not saying that you'll magically hit 60 fps because of replacing that PSU, but, your PSU isn't able to supply proper power for your system.

In most single player games I'm fine, but in games like rust I get micro stutters and most online fps games I get them. Could this also be attributed to the psu? I think I will go ahead and get a new one crossing corsair off the list permanently. Anyone have a non corsair recommendation?

SeaSonic.

Not sure for your area man. Check out the short cut in my sig.

Eggxpert Tiered Power Supply List
https://community.newegg.com/eggxpert/computer_hardware/f/135081/t/45344.aspx

Try and get a tier 1 or 2a PSU. Make sure you're getting a proper version also. One might be listed as tier 1 if above 700W, but be listed as a tier 3 if under 700W for instance.

If your hardware isn't getting the power it needs, then that will lead to overall worse performance. I'd look into 550 - 650W for your system. Oh, and don't forget to add a 2nd stick of ram later on.

In m experience singleplayer games are low demanding(excpt for metro and crysis) but when we enter to the multiplayer in 16/32/64 players(BF,Arma,Crysis,Far Cry) servers the load varies a lot and could be more demanding and this increases your cpu usage
If your psu would be faulty, your pc would behave weird with bsod or shutdowns
If your gpu usage spikes a lot could be
*low demanding game/resolution/details
*something is throttling either your vrms.on gpu/mobo
*drivers arent good
*cpu bottleneck

Or there is a latency issue

My system was totally stable yet my PSU was bad.

His system is doing the same thing my system was doing with a bad PSU.

It's his PSU not properly supplying power. There could be hardware performance issues also, but his PSU needs to be replaced before worrying about other possible bottlenecks.

I've been through this all myself, hell, I could of used his post to explain some of the issues I faced when I had a bad PSU. It's a bad PSU, and I'm willing to bet, more then one upset AMD user has a cruddy PSU to blame on their problems, since budget builds end up with budget PSU.

He can throw all the money at the problem he wants and never seem to fix it. Been there, done that. thumb.gif

Is there a specific one you can recommend? Lower price the better. I'd need to be able to get it on amazon also.
Australia`s amazon or USA`s Amazon?
Better would be a local store in your country
