hey guys. i'm super new in here but i really wanted to share you my build log
so i hope you don't mind it ^^
okay here we go
Caselabs mercury S3 with Pedestal Specs:
Asus maximus vi impact
Intel Core i7 4790k
Corsair dominator GT 2x4 gb 1866 mhz
xfx r7970
haven't decided on a PSU yet.
samsung 830 120 gb SSD
WD black 1 tb hdd
water cooling
Ek FC7970
EK-FB ASUS M6I Asus Impact block cobber
Bitspower fittings all over the place! partly acrylic tubing and partly soft tubing. (soft tubing places it can't be seen but with some hard bends in the pedestal
)
2 alphacool ut60 240 rads
Bitspower Z-multi 250 mm res.
pump ??? (SUGGESTIONS WELCOME on a not too expensive and overkill pump. still has to be solid
)
Corsair sp 120 fans on rads
Corsair af 120 fans everywhere else
i got ram, mobo, cpu, gpu and gpu waterblock and a little special piece for the water cooling
my cpu was dead on arrival !!
so i've send it back and just waiting for answer.. i test benched it and everything turned on like it should but i couldn't get any connection to my display and there was a bright red light from the mobo and it said cpu LED and i read my way to this being a problem with the cpu. so i looked at the cpu and socket but there was no physical damages to see so i tried to just install it again and give it a try but little did it help
I really hope you guys want to see more and i hope my partly crappy pictures aren't too big of a deal ^^ i will get a photo session with the final product and i will film the fill process and make a little video of it ^^
haha that's good ^^
i can't wait for it to be done !
keep in mind it might take some time since the caselabs case is coming from USA to europe.. it might take a month (!!!) before i get the case.. but stay tuned i will update when i get more items and i will start some of the tube routing and stuff like that so
soo i recieved my new cpu. warranty covered the dead cpu and now i recieved it but i got same fail message.. so now i'm blaming either the motherboard, psu or ram.
i will play around with different psu and ram tonight and otherwise i'm gonna have to go through the RMA on the mobo -_-
also caselabs case seems kinda lost in germany now...
everything seems kinda uphill for this build already ^^ but i'm keeping the mood up
also not-so-glamorous-glammer-shots-taken-with-phone of the acrylic water channel mobo cover thing
heart, any reason why you decided to get the pedestal? You can fit 2x 120.2 rads in the S3 top and front. Just wanted to know as I am seriously considering getting the S5 with 35mm top.

Simply to make the whole build so much cleaner and not as crammed
by having the radiators and pump mounted down there it's just going to make my whole build a bit more simple to look at through windows
i might install a third radiator in the top for ''sub zero'' cooling but again.. 2x 240 rads are more than enough for a mini itx build.. really wanna oc the snot out of my cpu and gpu (880 ti when it comes out) so that will aquire more cooling for me to feel comfortable ^^ (silly me)
if i were you i would think a lot about how your build is gonna look when it's done
i mean yes you can fit all the needed rads in the main case but what about pump, res, tubing and cable managment then?
feel free to ask me if you want to what i think you should do? i mean i would love to help you

Heart - thank you for detailed response. Answered in my question. I am still deciding on the caselabs case. I previously had TJ07 and then downsized to Bitfenix Prodigy.
It seems your doing a single loop? Did you consider 2x loops for the build? Also pumps, also planning my WC build and have settled for D5 vario with Koolance top. Just having problems deciding if I should get 2x D5's and put them in parallel - also...dont think the S5 case can fit 2x rads+tube res+ 2xD5 pumps. As I am aiming for silence more than anything. Like the alpha rads, got a ut60 240 at the moment, the metal screw stoppers are lifesaving for beginners like myself^_^

well no i wont go dual loop. dual loop is unecessary and hard to keep clean looking in m itx and m atx builds
if i had 2,3 or 4 gpu's on a atx mobo maybe i would go for dual loop but for 1 gpu, 1 cpu, 1 mobo and 2 ram sticks a single loop will be enough
also my interconnect plate (the acrylic thing going over the mobo) dosn't allow anything else but it's cool because it make the system look more clean
2 pumps again seems a bit unecessary if you ask me. the d5 vario will do great for you in a micro atx build because you won't hit so high restrictions that it will have a hard time moving the water. it might actually needs to be slowed down for silence

Good point on the D5 and restriction. Cost vs silence vs space = sticking point. I am start to lean towards a single loop with 2x rads in the loop. Also plan to use number of quick release fittings so I can disconnect things easily. Look forward to the build updates^_^

where exactly are you intending to use this quick release fittings?
i want to use one but that is for draining and it will make sense when i get to play around with it a bit ^^ i'm sure your build will be nice. don't forget to share it with me when you have pictures or maybe even a build log

so my new psu arrived and also my EK full cover mobo block for the asus impact motherboard! EK is so good at this.. the build quality is just insane i love it !
and then the psu! which is an Corsair AX850 80 plus gold power supply. it's really nice. the reason i chose an older ax series which is ''only'' gold certified is both because i got it pretty cheap and also because a lot of awesome workstation builds i've seen has been with this power supply!
it even has the ''zero dB'' feature where the fan only spins when the psu is under a bit of load
why would i pull of the original sleeving ????? *wink wink*
that's it for now
this build is gonna take ages if i keep being unlucky.. motherboard RMA is still going and the student economy isn't great so i can't just go out and buy all the fittings and radiators i need
I hope you will stick with me tho and thanks to all that give the log a look and i hope you are going to return and feel free to comment something you disliked, liked or suggestions! it's all welcome!
cya ;D
