Acrylic tubing fittings question

Hi guys

I'm just wondering has anyone come up with a way to use (or maybe retrofit somehow) standard Bitspower compression fittings for use with acrylic tubing?
I'll probably be upgrading my rig soon (when all the new stuff arrives - finally retire this Q9550 to easy HTPC duties

) and was thinking of giving acrylic a go but the cost outlay ontop of the upgrade might be a bit much (for fittings).

Plus last time i redid my loop i bought new compression fittings

Anyone come up with a mod or way to repurpose them? (I was mulling it over thinking how you could do it (and looking at how the acrylic fittings work) you could add an o-ring on the barb side (I've got access too a stupid amount of different sizes of o-rings being in the automotive and airconditioning business

), heat the tubing enough to push it onto the barb and let it cool then slide the compression bit down over top for looks (though i would guess, if it did seal properly without leaking, you'd definitely need to take some extra time and get the tubing lined up perfect, otherwise i'm sure there'd be risk of fracturing the tubing if you tired to turn it on the barb even slightly)

Thoughts?

Cheers

No way, no how. Using a cobbled together fitting is asking to spray fluid all over the place.

Bitspower C47's are some of the lowest cost fittings available anyway and they work great.

I see you are in Au so one option is these

They aren't quite the quality of Bitspower but there is no reason they won't work fine. If $3 a fitting is too rich I would absolutely reconsider trying hardline out.

Acrylic is not as forgiving as soft tubing. From my reverb experience I'll never build a hard tube systems unless it is compression fittings. My current build I progress was almost ruined. The acrylic was cut and beveled perfect but my dual pump setup blew the acrylic right out of the ek fitting like I grabbed it and yanked it out. So I have 15-20 16mm ek acrylic fittings to be stowed away and eventually filed.. My new compression fittings should be here tomorrow. :/

Man, really? ... That sounds like something might have been out of spec ... tube too narrow? I have run up my dual top maxed out using C47's and EK HD fittings with no problems.
All the testing I have seen of similar fittings sees them hold strong up to 30+ PSI ... well above what even dual pumps could produce.

Ah, $3 a fitting is fine, last time i looked fittings were nearing $100 which imo is stretching it a bit just for fittings alone (and now its hard to find the exact fittings since watercooling sources are drying up in Aus and those that still stock like to drop and change stock and pricing randomly).

Definitely look at that, hate seeing the BP fittings sitting in a box though

lol

never heard of Barrow before (in W/Cing), might have a google around see if theres any feedback on them, but really tubing is damn cheap compared to others too (funnily enough their would be the only one i could get Clear in, hard to find non-coloured in aus shops.....) - looks like they have compression hardline fittings too - $5.50 each

Just be warned that all their other fittings and tube is odd sizes, and so only works with their fittings. Their fittings and some tube is 14mm OD and their 12mm OD tube is a narrow 8mm ID
