a6-3650 overclock the gpu

Hello, I would like to know if someone here knows how to overclock the gpu only from the apu a6-3650 right inside the bios. Overclocking the cpu won't overclock the integrated gpu tho. Amd overdrive don't have this feature neither. I can overclock the gpu's memory by overclocking my ddr3 ram from the bios tho but what i want to overclock is the core itself that stays constantly at 444mhz.in cpu-z graphic.. According to that thread : http://www.overclock.net/t/1449608/apu-gpu-oc i can give to the northbridge a bit of voltage but is doing so will make the igpu's mhz more than 444?

Im using

cpu cooling: darn old big typhoon. i replaced the stock fan by a silverstone 120mm fan 110 cfm
ssd sandisk 120gb sata3
mb: asus f1a55-m lx+
apu: amd a6-3650
gpu: xfx radeon hd 6670 gddr5
dram: 2x4gb (8gb) kingston hyperx fury white 1333 overclocked to 1600 so it gives to my igpu 800mhz of memclock (can't take it to 1866 don't know why the bios freeze even with more voltage and i have to remove the cmos battery to reset it)

gpu and apu are in dual graphics (is it worse or better to leave the 6670 alone?! can't figure it out yet)

i overclocked the cpu from it's stock 2.6ghz to 3.6ghz and it stays arround 32 to 47 degrees full load so i guess i can oc the igpu without getting much heat

Thanks for your answers and help.

As an A8-3800 owner, I can tell you the 6670 is way better than the iGPU. Also, with Llano. I seriously doubt your at 3.6Ghz. If your using K10 stat, Fusion Tweaker, AOD etc, the multiplier will go up to 36 (K10 stat you can go to 47) but its a false reading.

In other words, it's running at stock speed. Sorry for the bad news, but just wanted to point that out.

For the GPU end of things, have you tried Asus GPU Tweak?

Hello, thanks for your reply. No i have not tried asus gpu tweak since i wanted to oc it from the bios directly. But i think i wont have the choice since my mother board dont seem to have any gpu boost options in ai tweaker. Does anyone think that flashing the bios to the latest update would make me able to oc it?

Edit: I can't oc the integrated graphics with asus gpu tweak. It caps at 444mhz. Tho i have read that the integrated gpu on the a6-3650 isn't overclockable at all so... I will get an a8-3870k that has the igpu clock unlocked for ocing. Thanks for the help tho!

Alright i got the a8-3870k. I had to flash the mb bios to the latest version tho to be able to have the GPU boost option to be able to oc the igpu. I made it to 960mhz. Over that i get some problems in windows lol. I want to overclock my memory now. Its kingston hyperx fury white 2 x 4gb 1333mhz oced to 1600mhz. I cant make it to 1866mhz i get artifacts at booting and the bios wont post, have to reset and it tells me that the overclock failed. Someone have an idea for the memory ocing? Should i give more voltage in the memory? thanks in advance for the help!

Yeah, if its still at 1.5v (or whatever default voltage is) bump the ram voltage and see if that helps.

Well i gave it 1.85v and it still freezing... So i guess i will give up on memory ocing. Windows experience index gives to the dual graphics a 6.7 in both graphics evaluation. When i put the 6670 alone it gets 7.1.. I don't understand how dual graphics can be worse than the video card alone. Why ?! Shame

Dual graphics is more or less a gimmick. Well, not a gimmick but it's not as good as one would think it should be. Naturally one would think two GPU's are better than one, but if those two GPU's are really slow then they're only going to be slightly quicker with them in crossfire.

The 6550d isn't all that powerful. It'll get the job done at low resolution and low settings, but overall it's pretty weak for gaming. The equivalent GPU would be an HD5450, which is a very low end GPU. Even a super cheap 4670 (you can get these anywhere from free to $20) can walk the 6550d and 5450 with ease.

Using the 6670 alone will be a night and day difference over the 6550d iGPU. I would suggest grabbing a cheap GPU to pair it with your CPU. I have an A8-3800 (yours should out perform mine) and I game just fine on a 7850.

What kinda budget are you on, I could suggest a cheap GPU for you that would really wake your system up.

I will just give up on trying to pair these two lol. I wanted to try it for fun because i got the parts for really cheap but oh well it's such a bad combo after all...
Thanks for your suggestion but i am not planning to buy anything for upgrading; i dont really play games so i dont really need a better computer. I have 3 laptops allready and that desktop funny tower that sucks finally loll

Thanks alot for your replies it was pretty helpfull and encouraging smile.gif

What are you planing to do with the a8-3870k? I might be interested in that if you were planing on getting rid of that rig.
