The dev's refuse to give correspondence back in the main thread. Die hard loyal arma fans are livid with the situation. Don't expect some magic patch to fix this problem cause it's not feasible. Bohemia needs to drop this 10 year old engine, and start from scratch. No wonder rocket and his team had to practically rewrite the whole arma II/take on engine to the point where they have given it a new name.

Rocket rewriting the code really didn't do a whole lot. My FPS with an i7 3820 at 4.5GHZ is often less than 30fps in cities on DayZ And Arma3. Bohemia Games are just poorly coded in general. They need to get with the times and fix these terribly running games. When Cpu Usage is less than 50% and Gpu usage is around 60% and I'm usually around 30ISH FPS, How is that okay?
I built a brand new z97 machine for a friend with a 4690K at 4.0GHZ and he's under 30 FPS in cities in both DayZ and Arma 3, Same with my brothers 4670k System at 4.0ghz. This is unacceptable and unbelievable. No game should run like this, even when graphics are set as low as they can go.
The friend I built the z97 system for had an FX6100 system before and he was pushing about 25 FPS before. So Upgrading to intel might get you into the playable bracket of 30fps, but is that little of a bump worth the cost?

I'm hoping that DayZ supposedly coming to ps4 will cause them to maybe fix and optimize this awful awful engine.

I agree whole heartily, it's unfortunate that dayz-SA still suffers the same performance issues as ARMA II did. With all the money BI has made you would think they'd invest heavily on personnel, like hiring a slew of talented coders. Instead all I see is new DLC coming November 4 2014, etc......when there core audience number one request is to fix the game(which I don't think is possible without rewriting the whole engine). At this point there should stop utilizing there man power on additional content, and instead start building a new engine that does not run like s**t.

This whole thing is a disaster, especially concerning DayZ. In know everything is 20/20 in hindsight, but wish rocket had taken his concept to another developer/publisher and made the game with them. The Engine is just outdated, inefficient, convoluted crap.

Buying a GTX 980 didn't help just for everyone's information. GPU usage is down to about 55% and CPU usage is below 40%

ARMA 3 is incredibly demanding due to how poorly the engine is coded.

Both of these posts are 100% right. The ARMA3 engine is among the worst-written things I've ever seen. Not only is the renderer tied to the main thread (that's like programming 101 - NEVER do that), the actual renderer is a horrific mess as well. In addition to that, being 32-bit really isn't helping things, especially with a 2048mb memory cap (so not even maxing out the 32-bit addresses). As a result, you have an engine basically using one thread, trying to swap assets in/out of ram/VRAM all the time (which uses I/O, which uses CPU, which is already used) all while trying to feed a horribly inefficient renderer.

ARMA would literally be 10x better if they fixed just the CPU-side code; not even touching the messed up renderer. Performance would be so much better that modders could basically fix the game entirely (which they pretty much already have), while still having the MP-game being completely playable (i.e. 100fps+ would be easy).
