Project Toxic Razer
It's that time! Time for a whole new build. It's beginning to look a lot like frag time. This build is meant for gaming, but will also be my showcase piece.

I am starting a custom PC building shop in my town as there is really nothing here except a couple of repair shops who look like they haven't bought a new PC in 20 years and I keep getting asked about builds. I have built a custom rig in a HAF Stacker before and loved the amount of room I had to work inside the case. This time around I will be making major modifications to a stacker and hopefully it will look great when all is said and done.

My goal with this rig is to put together a high performance system that will match my theme. I am basing it off of a bio hazard and Razer gaming theme. The reason for Razer is that I use all of their gear when I game and love the black and green.

Sounds like a great build . . . will you be doing any custom painting?

Cheers

I will, for the plastic and acrylic bits that need painted I will be doing that myself. Any metal will be powdercoated.

Thanks, I've already got an IT consulting firm that I run part time with limited clients (on purpose), but wanted to branch out to something that is not available in the valley that I live in. We have approximately 70k people in the surrounding area and not a single place in town does custom builds. I'm always getting asked to do basic rigs but I want to do more custom work so thought I would showcase the work.

It's not much of an update but I have the entire chassis torn apart and am ready to get started modding. I found local sources for m3, m4, and m5 allen head screws in pretty much whatever length I want, but I am having a difficult time tracking down a source for acrylic. Thoughts? I'm looking for acrylic sheets in neon green, clear, and black. I'm waiting for the powder coat to be done. He was still waiting for the powder to arrive as of yesterday so I am in a holding pattern. The paychecks are not coming in as quick as I would like them otherwise I would have video card, proc, and motherboard in hand to begin the build and customization.

My order for sleeving gear will be put in tomorrow. I'm looking at the Teleios on FrozenCPU in neon green and the black clear fusion. It'll give me grey, green and black in the system. Now the only thing I have to decide is do I want to make all new cables or just sleeve the ones that I have on my psu already. If I use the ones already on the system I will have to redo the PCIe connectors in black because XFX had the infinite wisdom to make them red.

I will try to take some pictures tomorrow of the tear down and I should also be working on cutting out the honeycomb on the front and top panels to make way for the custom acrylic.

What's this? Actual pictures? Mesh finally came back from the powder coaters!

In other news, I traded a used Radeon HD 7870 for a brand new Intel SSD (480GB). My GTX 780 will be here tomorrow, the motherboard and proc will be a couple of paychecks out, and it's time to get started on the sleeving of the PSU. I'll be ordering my basket of Teleios soon.

I know it's a lot of posts in a row but oh well. The delivery man brought me a special package today!

UPDATE: Need help deciding on a motherboard, give your input!

Upon further investigation I have decided not to go with the Gigabyte G1.Sniper M5. For a couple of reasons. As much as I like the motherboard colors and compactness, I don't want to have to flash the BIOS in order to support the 4790K plus the future expandability and upgradability will be an advantage. Now I run in to a problem. I'm looking at a couple of new motherboards but can't decide which one to go with. It would appear that the only differences on the more expensive one are the Killer Lan and 2 more USB 3.0 connectors. See models below.

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-BK
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD5H-BK

If anyone has any suggestions that would either be black and green or all black in Z97 chipset let me know! I'd love some input on this particular issue.

I've been sleeving away while there is downtime at work. What do you think?

Finished 24 Pin

On another note, I'm waiting for my new motherboard and proc to show up, the mounting bracket is being rendered and then I will cut it out probably tonight when I get home.
