Hi, I was just thinking of moving into the M.2 world for my new build but I was wondering does it behave like a SATA SSD where I can install an OS onto it.

Depends on your MB! Are you using x99? Then yes. z97 may need bios updates

Does the motherboard controller for the M.2 drives use Intel controllers or some 3rd party like Marvel etc..

It should be PCI Express. I'm not sure this will cause the drive to take up PCI lanes? I'm thinking Z97 with SLI/CF is already at 8x/8x. What will happen if you add a M.2 drive then? smile.gif
