Raja@Asus replied saying I should tweak my VCCSA. I've never meddled with this figure though. Not sure what it does.

Also!

Log of my attempts today:
All at 100mhz bclk, stress tested with OCCT, at ambient room temp of 30C.
4.2ghz, 1.1V, 75C, Stable
4.3ghz, 1.1V, -, Unable to boot
4.3ghz, 1.15V, 81C, Stable
4.4ghz, 1.15V, -, Boot only
4.4ghz, 1.2V, 87C, Stable but too hot.

Will adjusting BCLK give better temps instead?

I was using 125 MHz and getting worse performance than you got. 4.2 GHz wasn't stable for me at 1.2, I think I had to push it to 1.25 before it was. That was before I updated the BIOS (and I thought I was getting higher temps than I should have) so I'll repost once I've tested it some more. That was using XMP Profile #2 for my RAM (Dominator Platinum 2800 C16 @ 1.2V --> 3000 C16 @ 1.35V). I may just have a bad chip.

I also get a bd error code on boot every now and then.... and this is running at stock XMP Profile #2 only (ups RAM and changes sets CPU to 3.75 @ 1.2V). It runs really stable through IntelBurnTest so I'm thinking the RAM overclock might be my issue, but I haven't had time to play with it as much as I want to.

I got 4.2 stable with bclk at 125, 1.2v. But damn was hot. 81C on 3 cores.

I'm contemplating whether or not to buy a 480 and replace the 240.
Not sure how will adding 240 of rad space help with the cooling though.
That setup would have looked killer in a black chassis, white panel case.

So you were getting better temps and stability by just using 100 MHz BCLK? Mine was about that hot too using just my 360.

Strange right? From the reviews I saw, overclocks were better at 125mhz bclk.
Also, I did test with the ASUS 5-way optimization software. Also got about the same results. 4.3ghz at 1.2V with "Ratio Only". And a miserable 4.1ghz at 1.2V with "Bclk first then ratio".

I'll try swap out my eloops with ap-15s on the 360 tonight and see what difference it will make.
Stay tuned!

Now that you mentioned it, I never took shots of the case itself.
Its a white panel, gunmetal interior SM8. biggrin.gif
Will try to rush home and get some shots while the sun is still up.

Edit: I keep pondering why are my temps so high... Could it be that I didn't get good coverage with the thermal paste (Arctic MX-4) ?

No case pictures just yet!
But...
I did a quick swap of my fans to my old AP-15s

Bump the speed on the fans to 1500rpm and there was a tremendous change in temps.
Before change:
4.4ghz @ 1.2V, stable with highest temps at 86C.

After change:
4.4ghz @ 1.2V, stable with highest temps at 82C.

ALL HAIL AP-15s!

So let me hear your thoughts.
1. Should I buy a new set of Eloop B12-P or swap all out with AP-15s?
2. I'm thinking the front is rather empty, and this rig is deserving of a second 360 rad in the front. Another SR1 360?

Go with the GTs! Better performance + less motor noise across rpms.

I totally agree with you on the performance of the AP-15's.
The amount of air pushed through the rad was significantly more than that of the B12-2's.
But they just don't look the part. Call me shallow, but performance is 2nd to looks. biggrin.gif

That being said, I've got some word on the ASUS X99 Motherboard support thread that it might be my thermal paste that is the reason.
So, I'll head home after work, drain out the loop and refit my cpu block.

So I got back from work, removed the waterblock to inspect the thermal paste.
True enough, there was a patch that was bare and not covered!

Dang that's a clean block biggrin.gif

So I reapplied the paste in a cross pattern, hoping to get the best coverage.
Retested at 4.3ghz, 1.15V.
Good news, cores #0, 1, 3 and 5 had reduced temps even more so. Highest of these 4 cores was 73degC. Amazing improvement.
However, cores #2 and 4 were still pumping an intensive 81degC.

Feel like taking the chip out and gunner2.gif
Anyway, I've contact the local store in attempt to ask for an exchange, or if stocks are unavailable, a top up to swap for a 5960X.
Part of me says top up devil.gif
