[TheGuardian] Andrew Wilson of EA: 'We never want to be worst US company again' - Page 6

Almost like steams greenlight which by day z standards is a free for all I could make grass simulator and charge $30 and make promises it will get better then not bother updating for 4-5 months still collect all cash and bring no fixes or updates.

They are very far away from being the "worst US company." I mean, all those fast food joints blows any gaming company out of the water. In terms of the worst gaming company, Activision wins. EA have at least been trying to release good games, but Activision on the other hand is just milking everything they can.

Wilson looks every inch the young thrusting business exec. Square-jawed, tanned, super confident, he is what a 3D printer would come up with if you typed in “modern CEO”

oh fantastic. another overconfident ceo who has no real connection with gamers. fire this guy and hire an actual gamer. also, "thrusting"...um awkward

Start giving a rats butt about ur studios,

fire and do away with Big Dummy upper management,

Let these studios do their jobs, to begin with.

Its not always about the dollar, you want a good game that sells well,

"Dont be a Big Dummy or stay out of the way!"

They're striving to fix it in many of the wrong ways. Delaying game launches is a good one, I will give them that. The formula isn't that hard, they are looking in the wrong places.

  1. The game should be $60 or less for everything. Ever. For the entire life of the game.
  2. Work on making it work, not on maps. Most people only really fancy a few maps, so focus on making it really fun to play those, not crappy to play on a bunch.
  3. No shortcuts, no paid-cheats, no in-app purchases, and no damn premium. Telling players that those who payed you more money are better than you is the worst thing you can do ever. Letting players cut line because they paid you more. How do people get scammed into this crap? Well, I guess I did because all my friends did. And that just shows you, if it makes them money, they don't care how many people it pisses off.
  4. Did I mention fix the game? There is no reason for you guys to super buff tv missiles, the break them and then leave them broken because you didn't want to look bad by having to change them a third time. So jsut leave them broken why don't you.
  5. Don't go backwards. When you have serverside netcode in bf2, why go backwards?
  6. Keep supporting and fixing your games.

That's pretty much it. Look at valve tf2. That game is so highly polished you can see you reflection. Beta modes and maps are more stable than bf3 4 years after release. When you shoot someone in tf2, you know it. The game will even tell you how much damage you caused instantly. Unlike battlefield where a gun that takes four shots to kill takes 25 because you've shot 25 by the time the first four register and the guy actually dies.

Silly EA. You don't even have to try. It comes natural!

P.S.

Gamers have no one to blame but themselves. You keep on buying EA's junk no matter what. Until you stop. Which you won't. Because you will buy it and like it! EA will NEVER change. EA just laughs all the way to the bank at the sheeple that don't know any better or lack common sense.

EA - ''We never want to be worst US company again''. What they really mean, "Loyal consumers, thank you for this prestigious Worst Company in the US award. Continue to complain and whine about our incomplete and broken products while forking over your hard earned cash. EA loves it's dumb and easily manipulated consumer base and couldn't have made here without you. Thank you!"

Sure EA does a few distasteful things, but they're not literally ruining peoples lives like the banks and oil companies are.
