After running more or less on default setting for a couple months, to make sure all was ok, I went into BIOS and changed to RAM XMP profile 1 (which is 2666), no other changes. When I did this, windows 10 bluescreened with some debug options, do not remember which dll that created the error. After reboot BIOS also stops me and says something about cannot continue, need to go into bios.
When I set it back to default which is 2133 mhz, all is once again fine.

What is wrong?! Shouldnt 2666 be no problem at all!?
The system is 5820K + MSI Krait X99A SLI + Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2666MHz 16GB, DDR4, 2666MHz 16GB 4 x 288 DIMM.

Nothing is wrong, it just doesnt work like that for everyone. You may have to up your dram voltage, sa voltage, possibly change your blk to 125..etc. The xmp settings on x99 are horribly flawed and dont work for all chips/boards.

Is there a way to change the graphic/splash screen on the motherboard? I had the krait (which I loved but may have been problematic) and I replaced it rapidly with an SLI Plus. That boot-up/splash screen is terrible. Its that grey and blue MSI Tough Guard logo. Its just too ugly to look at

So Im wondering if there is a custom bios that replaces that image or if there is a way to mod the bios to replace it. Im probably going to end up with a refurbed Krait too (newegg told me to send the return and then refused it...last time I order from them) So I may eventually go back to the Krait. But that will be months from now most likely and I have to change this one ASAP.

Anyone got a good detailed advice on how to set this ram up? It was like 2 months ago adviced to get this ram, so I guess it shouldnt be bad for this board. Prefer to use the XMP 1 profile for 2666 mhz...

does it really matter for the second it's on the screen for?
I just disable the boot logo, I don't see the point or care about it so tongue.gif

I just told you 2 posts up. Voltages, SA voltage, try your blk at 125 etc. A quick google will give you any info you need to set it up manually.

Just setup UEFI boot, then you'll get a nice, clean black background with an MSI logo on. You might have to reinstall Windows, but for me it was well worth it. Also, boot times are vastly improved when I switched to UEFI.
